About RTW Foundation (RTWF)
RTW Foundation (RTWF) was founded in 2018 as the philanthropic arm of RTW Investments, LP a biotech investment firm. RTWF has two major focuses: improving health equity in New York City and advancing ultrarare disease research.
Our overarching goal is to improve the health of underserved communities whether that be from historically underinvested communities in New York City (including communities of color and migrant populations) to patients and families facing ultrarare diseases.
Role Description and Responsibilities
RTW Foundation is seeking a Research Scholar who will research health policy issues relating to health care innovation, reform, equity, and rare diseases. Research topics may include market access, pricing and contracting, health economics outcomes research, and other broader public affairs functions as they evaluate public policy issues from a patient, provider, payer, and industry perspective to develop talking points, presentations, issue briefs, and original research to support the Foundation’s advocacy and education platforms.
- Monitor, identify, research, and analyze health care innovation, reform, equity, and rare disease policy.
- Produce content in the form of reports, blogs, policy briefs, and position papers.
- Support all areas of the policy process: identification and agenda building, policy development, strategy formulation, implementation, and evaluation.
- Support the knowledge management of policy and program data/information.
Role Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for someone who has experience working in public policy who is passionate about RTW Foundation’s mission.
- Strong interest in public policy research.
- Strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher.
- Strong quantitative skills, and facility with building and analyzing spreadsheets.
- Superior verbal and interpersonal communication; exceptional writing skills including the ability to translate research findings into well thought-out public policy content.
- Ability to collaborate with teams; must effectively operate independently, across functional lines, and with internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to learn.
- Operational and problem-solving skills, someone who is proactive, adaptive, and solution oriented. Someone who takes initiative.
- Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, must be able to multi-task.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Compensation & Benefits
- In accordance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
