Role Overview 

The Vice President/Principal will work with the Managing Director and New Ventures team to identify and evaluate opportunities for company creation. Within the large cap role, the VP/Principal will focus on pharma coverage to 1) identify potential divestiture licensing opportunities 2) monitor pipeline progress, failures and priorities for readthrough NewCo asset ideation, 3) develop relationships with pharma BD teams. The VP/Principal will be responsible for coverage of at least the top 20 large pharmas, top 5 large-cap biotechs, growth coverage of Asia large pharma.  

This position is full-time and reports to the Managing Director, New Ventures.  

 Key Responsibilities  

• Independently monitor large cap pharma pipelines and leadership through earnings calls, scientific analysis and holistic diligence   
• Identify targets, indications, and signals of interest relevant to the greater biotech market, and for follow on/growth opportunities for RTW NewCos and the Asset Selection team. 
• Build a strategic process to identify, diligence, and recommend assets of interest for licensure into RTW NewCo, and signals that predict assets or business segments will have upcoming prioritization reviews or be open to licensure 
• Conduct proprietary research evaluating assets by scientific due diligence (preclinical, clinical), commercial, IP, CMC, regulatory. 
• Represent RTW professionally at industry partnering conferences (~4x per year)  
• Catalyze and facilitate introductions to decision makers within large cap pharma business development/licensing teams  

 Qualifications and Skills 

• 5+ years of experience focused on the biotech/pharmaceutical sector, in buy or sell-side equity research analyst, or in a strategy or management consulting role 
• Pre-existing relationships with large cap pharma business development/licensing teams 
• Ability to operate independently on both strategic and tactical tasks, and clearly articulate the process involved 
• Investor mindset, deep experience with producing research notes (prior large-cap pharma coverage preferred) 
• Relevant academic or industry experience in the life sciences is preferred 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• Demonstrated tenacity in conducting detailed research and presenting findings 
• New York based with willingness to travel (15%)

In accordance with New York City’s Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for the VP role is $150,000 - $225,000 depending on experience, skill level, and the scope of responsibilities assigned. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits and may vary based on factors such as the candidate's qualifications and the level at which the role is hired. In addition to base salary, this role offers a competitive bonus structure and comprehensive benefits.
