Job Summary:
This role reports into the Director of PLM & NPI and supports the broader PLM & NPI team by owning the product brief, managing the economics of new developments, and tracking performance of the existing assortment. It is primarily an executional and analytical role with strong strategic input, particularly on product definition, lifecycle, and assortment health.
We're looking for a commercially minded product leader with hands-on experience bringing physical products to market. The project management of new product introductions sits with the NPI side of the team, so this role can stay focused on the product itself: what we're building, why we're building it, and how it's performing once it's out in the world.
You'll work closely with Merchandising, Product Development, Textile Design, Finance, Marketing, and Operations. Ruggable operates primarily through a made-to-order model across owned manufacturing sites in the US, UK, EU, and Australia, with a growing finished good business alongside it. You'll need to understand how product decisions move through both models and write briefs that hold up in either.
What You’ll Do:
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Contribute to the innovation pipeline for Non-Printed products and new Printed material introductions, sequenced against commercial opportunity, bandwidth, and operational complexity
- Identify whitespace through competitive research, consumer insight, and trend monitoring. Bring a clear point of view to what's worth pursuing and why
- Own briefs for evergreen updates and product improvement projects alongside new introductions. Not everything in the pipeline is brand new, and this role is responsible for making sure existing products get the same rigor when they're due for investment
Brief & Product Definition
- Write and own the product brief from early innovation-stage through the detailed spec that opens the development gate
- Serve as brief guardian throughout development, catching scope drift, flagging tradeoffs, and ensuring development teams are always working from a single source of truth
Financial Ownership & Pricing
- Build and maintain cost models for all new developments across materials, manufacturing, packaging, and logistics. Own pricing recommendations grounded in margin requirements, competitive positioning, and consumer willingness to pay
- Track cost evolution through development and flag margin risk early
In-Market Performance & Lifecycle
- Own post-launch performance analysis across sales trends, customer feedback, return rates, quality data, and margin health. Translate that data into clear lifecycle recommendations
- Brief product improvements into development when performance data supports it, including evergreen updates and quality-driven changes. Maintain a prioritized improvement backlog for the existing assortment
Cross-Functional Partnership & Team
- Partner with Merchandising and Textile Design on the seasonal line plan. Represent new developments with the right timing, counts, and commercial parameters
- Manage the Collection Launch Coordinator. Set direction, provide coaching, and build a collection launch engine that gets more reliable and scalable over time
What You’ll Need to Have:
Required:
- 3-6 years in product management, product line management, or category management in a consumer product, DTC, or manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with physical products, including comfort with materials, manufacturing constraints, and supply chain realities
- Demonstrated experience writing and owning product briefs or PRDs through a full development process
- Comfort owning product financials including margin modeling, costing, and pricing
- Analytically self-sufficient; able to pull, manipulate, and interpret data independently
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to drive alignment across cross-functional teams without direct authority
Preferred:
- Experience in a DTC or e-commerce environment where speed of iteration and in-market feedback loops matter
- Familiarity with seasonal calendar-driven businesses where development timelines and commercial calendars have to stay in sync
- Exposure to vertically integrated manufacturing models
- Excellent communication and cross-functional partnership skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Creative problem solver with a customer-first mindset
Compensation:
- $110,000 - $125,000 per year base salary
- An annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of role
- Employer matching (up to 3% of base salary) for company sponsored 401K plan
