Principal DevOps Architect
Rumble is a high-growth neutral video platform that is creating the rails and independent infrastructure designed to be immune to cancel culture. Rumble’s mission is to restore the Internet to its roots by making it free and open once again.
What You’ll Do:
We’re seeking an elite Principal DevOps Architect to join our high-performing team and play a pivotal role in building, securing, and automating the systems that keep our global infrastructure fast, scalable, and reliable. This isn’t a “keep the lights on” role — this is for someone who wants to design the light switch, automate its deployment, monitor its performance, and harden it against failure. Automate everything. Deploy everywhere. Empower everyone.
You’ll be at the core of our engineering and operations strategy, helping us deliver software faster, smarter, and more secure by creating frictionless pipelines, robust cloud infrastructure, and intelligent systems.
In this role, you will:
- Work with multiple Linux distributions, both package based (ie: Ubuntu) and source based (ie: Gentoo).
- Design, build, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines that empower development teams to ship code with confidence and speed.
- Champion reliability and uptime, ensuring infrastructure is secure, monitored, performant, and self-healing.
- Partner with engineering, security, and product teams to embed DevOps best practices from design to deployment.
- Implement and manage monitoring, alerting, and logging systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix) to ensure visibility across environments.
- Optimize application performance with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Lead incident response and post-mortem analysis, driving learning and continuous improvement.
- Continuously seek new tools, patterns, and approaches to stay on the cutting edge of DevOps and SRE.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of expert level experience with managing and working with Linux-based servers.
- Strong experience in compiling custom Linux kernels, including monolithic kernels.
- Expertise in modern CI/CD practices, GitOps workflows, and pipeline orchestration tools.
- Strong skills in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Go, etc.).
- Solid understanding of containerization (ie: Docker) and orchestration platforms (ie: Kubernetes).
- Experience managing monitoring platforms and incident management systems.
- Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps: secrets management, policy-as-code, and shift-left security principles.
- A collaborative mindset, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to mentor and work with other engineers.
- Strong experience in working and running multi server clusters
- Expertise in troubleshooting software and systems with tools like grep, top, and log analyzers.
- A love for solving hard problems with clean, scalable, and reliable solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong experience with physical computers/servers and related hardware.
- Familiarity with zero-downtime deployment strategies such as blue/green and canary releases.
- Expertise in various server software (ie: NGINX, MySQL, ClickHouse) tuning, and low-level performance optimizations.
- Strong experience in one or more of the following: MySQL, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redis, MariaDB, etc.
- Background in site reliability engineering (SRE) and/or a strong focus on systems performance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Contributions to open-source DevOps tools or participation in technical communities.
- Experience or familiarity in working with or developing with one or more of the following: Go, PHP, C/C++, Python, Rust.
