Director, Marketing

Remote, USA

RunPod is pioneering the future of AI and machine learning, offering cutting-edge cloud infrastructure for full-stack AI applications. Founded in 2022, we are a rapidly growing, well-funded company with a remote-first organization spread globally. Our mission is to empower innovators and enterprises to unlock AI's true potential, driving technology and transforming industries. Join us as we shape the future of AI.

As the first marketing lead at RunPod, you will work closely with the CRO to build and scale the marketing function from the ground up. This is a key strategic role where you will take ownership of product marketing, branding, marketing communication, design, and demand generation. You’ll collaborate closely with product and DevRel teams to position RunPod as the leader in serverless GPU solutions, while building a passionate community of AI developers and positioning us upmarket.

In addition to building the marketing function, you will collaborate with the growth team to establish budget priorities and performance metrics, while having overall budget oversight for marketing initiatives. Your goal will be to define and execute a marketing strategy that caters to our product-led growth (PLG) users, qualifying business accounts for the sales organization, and building a world-class brand.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Execute Marketing Strategy: Create and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with company objectives, focusing on product-led growth (PLG) and positioning RunPod as the leader in serverless GPU and AI application development.
  • Product Marketing Leadership: Own the product marketing function, driving the go-to-market strategy for RunPod’s offerings. Craft messaging, positioning, and campaigns that communicate the value of our products to both developers and enterprise customers.
  • Brand Building: Develop and elevate the RunPod brand, building a strong identity that resonates with our target users and positions us as thought leaders in the AI and GPU space. Ensure consistency in branding, design, and messaging across all channels.
  • Demand Generation: Lead demand generation efforts to drive awareness, customer acquisition, and growth. Oversee campaigns, nurture funnels, and marketing automation to convert PLG users into high-value business accounts.
  • Marketing Communications & Design: Oversee the marketing communications strategy, including content creation, PR, and social media. Lead design efforts to ensure visually appealing and cohesive branding across all touchpoints.
  • Collaboration with Product & DevRel: Work closely with the product and developer relations teams to build a passionate user base, craft an opinionated stance on AI development, and drive community engagement.
  • Budget Ownership & Growth Team Collaboration: Establish and manage the marketing budget in collaboration with the CRO. Work alongside the growth team to set budget priorities and performance metrics, ensuring the highest ROI on marketing spend.
  • Upmarket Positioning: Strategically position RunPod to target enterprise-level customers and help bridge the gap between developer adoption and enterprise contracts. Collaborate with sales to qualify business accounts and support the sales organization with marketing-qualified leads (MQLs).
  • Build a World-Class Marketing Function: As the first marketing hire, you will be responsible for building the marketing function from the ground up. This includes hiring and developing a high-performing marketing team over time.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing leadership roles, ideally within the SaaS, tech, or developer tooling industries.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling marketing functions, including product marketing, branding, and demand generation.
  • Deep understanding of product-led growth (PLG) strategies and experience marketing to developers and technical users.
  • Strong expertise in driving demand generation and creating customer acquisition funnels that convert high-intent users into qualified business leads.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product, sales, and developer relations, to drive alignment and achieve company objectives.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging for both technical and business audiences.
  • Hands-on experience in managing marketing budgets and optimizing spend to maximize growth and ROI.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and take ownership of key strategic initiatives
  • Successful completion of a background check

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
