Server Automation Engineer
Rush Street Interactive (NYSE: RSI) is a market leader in online casino and sports betting, currently operating real-money gaming with our brands: BetRivers.com, PlaySugarHouse.com, and RushBet.co. We’re building bridges between online, social and land-based gaming businesses to create amazing, integrated experiences that keep players in the game.
We are seeking a Server Automation Engineer to join our Engineering Delivery Support team. In this role, you will build the tools, workflows, and infrastructure that empower backend engineers to deploy code confidently, scalably, and securely.
This is not a product feature development role. Instead, you will work at the intersection of CI/CD systems, cloud infrastructure, and developer workflows to eliminate friction and ensure our server stack scales reliably and predictably.
If you thrive on digging into flaky pipelines, simplifying brittle deployments, and enforcing infrastructure standards through code, this role offers a high-leverage opportunity to improve reliability across the engineering organization
What You'll Do:
Automation Engineering
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines that are fast, stable, and easy to debug, especially across a large-scale monorepo.
- Improve CI/CD reliability and speed by identifying bottlenecks and making focused, sustainable improvements.
- Promote consistency in automation by standardizing tooling and workflows used across the engineering organization.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure build, test, and deployment stages are consistent, observable, and version-controlled.
Infrastructure & Orchestration
- Operate and evolve containerized deployment systems using Docker, Kubernetes, and complementary tooling.
- Collaborate with platform teams to provision and manage multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), with an eye toward reliability and cost efficiency.
- Own and extend infrastructure-as-code frameworks (Terraform, Ansible), enabling reproducible and scalable system configurations.
Security & Compliance
- Implement secure handling of secrets and environment configs using tools such as Hashicorp Vault.
- Support secure and compliant delivery by integrating automated checks and enforcement policies into deployment workflows.
- Enable engineers to adopt secure development practices by maintaining and evolving tooling that surfaces issues early and consistently.
Developer Experience
- Design systems and documentation that empower engineers to resolve delivery issues independently, reducing bottlenecks and dependency on specialized support.
- Build internal tools that abstract away repetitive tasks and accelerate day-to-day engineering work.
- Drive a culture of operational excellence by rooting out inefficiencies and eliminating toil through automation.
What You'll Bring:
- Deep hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD systems (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab).
- Strong command of Kubernetes internals and how container orchestration impacts delivery pipelines.
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code and configuration management (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Helm).
- Experience designing and scaling delivery systems in complex, cloud-native environments.
- Strong grasp of secure deployment principles, secret lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- Ability to debug across the entire stack, communicate clearly, and collaborate across teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with monorepo management and tools in server-side environments.
- Familiarity with SRE principles and observability tooling.
- Track record of building tooling that’s widely adopted by developers. #LI-HYBRID
