Frontend Engineer

The Frontend Engineer is expected to deliver the highest-quality code and impactful products to the team, effectively leading complex technical projects and simplifying complex systems through expert design. 

Frontend Engineer maintains high-quality standards in the team's work, including well-documented code, proper unit testing, and regular participation in code reviews. They set the standards for coding within the team and provide constructive feedback during code reviews to promote consistent and efficient coding practices. Frontend Engineer plays a key role in documenting team processes. Frontend Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the Product Owner and Engineering Manager and working closely with Technical Lead. 

The Frontend Engineer should also take a wider level of participation in Engineering Department technical discussions, and regularly participate in guild conversations. The Frontend Engineer should ultimately be more than simply a strong individual contributor; they must help the entire engineering department improve.

  • Leads the development of big / complex features
    • Splits up big features into tasks
    • works closely with PO to scope the feature in deliverable way
    • is able to clear most roadblocks from the feature development
  • Can estimate the effort for most of the tasks
    • or proposes introductory task (e.g PoC) for better estimation
  • Can mentor/coach other team members
  • Can diagnose and solve the hardest problems / bugs
  • Can define and implement automated tests for features with minimal QA support
  • Can deliver to the highest engineering practices standard including
    • code quality (simplicity, readability)
    • test coverage including corner cases
    • improves the code testability and improves existing test frameworks
    • proposes (and implements) refactoring tasks while implementing new features
  • Drives engineering best practices to high level
    • contributes to coding conventions
  • Drives bigger technical roadmap initiatives
  • Gives accurate status updates about ongoing tasks
  • Takes the initiative to fix issues before being assigned them.
  • Seeks empirical evidence through proof of concepts, tests and external research
  • Delivers complex products to QA that they believe are well-baked and bug-free
  • Interview prospective candidates and provide thoughtful evaluations and feedback
  • Promotes monitoring service health and key performance indicators within the team
  • Participate in technical challenge portion of interviews
  • Participation in guild activities

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. 
  • 5+ years in Software Engineering
  • High level of proficiency in programming languages used by the team
  • Strong knowledge of all domains handled by the team
  • Ability to coach and mentor more junior engineers
  • High level of craftsmanship about their work, the end experience of the user, and impact on overall product
