
Project Accountant
Headquartered in New York with a nationally-scaled platform, RXR is a 450+ person, vertically integrated investment manager with expertise in a wide array of value creation activities, including acquisitions, asset and portfolio management, property operations, development, construction, leasing, and technological innovation. RXR is an active investor in real estate credit, rental housing, commercial property, and property technology through value-added and opportunistic investment strategies.
The Project Accountant is responsible for commercial real estate development projects and performing financial analysis. This person reports to the Director of Project Accounting and is responsible for the accounting operations of the projects. The position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating and entering transactions and for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information. As the point of contact between the projects and corporate headquarters, facilitates the smooth flow of financial information and reporting for both internal and external use.
Responsibilities
- Collect all trade AIA G702/703(AIA) and vendor invoices
- Verify accuracy of final AIA from all trade subcontractors including project roll forward, mathematical accuracy, and completeness of support (lien waivers, insurance etc.)
- Review requisitions for errors or missing information using discretion and judgement.
- Distribute AIA’s to Project Managers to review
- Attend meetings with Project Managers (PM) and all trades to review project status and provides support
- Record subcontractor AIAs in all general conditions in the accounting system
- Maintain the Accumulated Cost Report (ACR)
- Complete Accounts Receivable Billing of monthly activity to properties and tenants
- Work across multiple projects and properties simultaneously
Qualifications
Top Competencies:
- Progress Billing: Proficient at executing adjustments necessary to bring billing up to date when gone off track with the ability to train others effectively.
- Accounting Systems Proficiency: Proficient in daily use of Procore; (1) able to create commitments and change orders; and 2) able to conduct quality control of data; Proficient in use of Sage 300 with expertise in reporting, queries, research, recordings, and more; Expertise in overriding existing automatic items to adjust entries to make it work when fails in E1. Basic proficiency in Excel. Proficiency in Timberscan.
- Reporting and Analysis: Expertise in identifying potential issues and inconsistencies and researching and investigating root causes.
- Vendor Account Reconciliation: Able to explain clearly the causes for the discrepancies. Presents the analysis in a clear format for others to understand.
- Invoicing Fundamentals: Proficiency in tracking open invoices not yet uploaded to the system; Ability to review invoices / AIA against commitment and change orders.
- Construction AIA Process: Excellent understanding and execution of AIA review and QA for errors
Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- A minimum of 2-3 years of project accounting experience
- Good working knowledge of GAAP
- Proficient at an intermediate level with MS Excel
- Familiarity with Sage 300 (Timberline accounting software), Procore (project management software) and Timberscan (accounts payable approval software) preferred, but not required

When determining a team member's base salary/rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g. location, years of service, specialty, education, relevant experience).
Bonus eligible.
Pay Range
$70,000 - $80,000 USD
