Position Summary

We are looking for a Jira Developer with strong software development skills and a deep understanding of Jira’s API ecosystem. This role goes beyond administration—you’ll be building custom solutions, engineering new capabilities, and extending Jira to meet complex business and technical requirements.

Your primary focus will be on developing tools, services, and automation that interact with Jira via REST APIs, webhooks, and scripting frameworks. You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, IT, and operations to deliver robust solutions that improve productivity, reduce manual work, and support enterprise-scale initiatives. If you're a developer who thrives on solving real business problems through elegant code and scalable architecture, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop applications, scripts, and services that interact with the Jira platform using REST APIs, Atlassian Forge, and webhooks.
  • Build internal tools and microservices to automate tasks, enforce governance, and extend Jira functionality.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and implement custom solutions that streamline workflows, reporting, and team coordination.
  • Contribute to the architecture and development of scalable integrations between Jira and other systems (e.g., GitHub, CI/CD, data platforms) where needed.
  • Leverage scripting and low-code tools such as ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, and Forge functions to create efficient, maintainable enhancements.
  • Maintain clean, well-documented code and provide support for ongoing operations, troubleshooting, and enhancements.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying Jira platform limitations and proactively developing solutions or workarounds.
  • Champion automation best practices, API governance, and reusable component development.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a software engineering or systems development role with direct exposure to Jira development.
  • Advanced proficiency in using Jira REST APIs, webhooks, and Atlassian’s Forge or Connect frameworks.
  • Solid experience with scripting and programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or Groovy).
  • Understanding of software architecture principles, API lifecycle management, and system design.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools such as ScriptRunner, Structure, or other Marketplace apps that support extensibility.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to translate business needs into reliable, testable, and secure code.
  • Atlassian certifications (e.g., ACP-120, ACP-420) or equivalent technical credentials preferred.
  • Experience deploying cloud-native or serverless applications (e.g., AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions) preferred.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and how Jira fits into modern development workflows preferred.
  • Exposure to Agile/SAFe methodologies and enterprise-scale change management practices preferred.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
