Sr. HR Business Partner, China

Beijing, China

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to support our teams in China, serving as the primary people partner to regional leadership. This role is critical to enabling our planned growth by establishing strong people practices, driving performance, and ensuring effective day-to-day HR execution in-region. This is a highly hands-on, embedded role within the business. You will work closely with leaders to manage employee relations, improve team effectiveness, and own core HR processes, while also contributing to how the organization scales in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen and a bias for execution, with the ability to operate independently, influence senior stakeholders, and navigate ambiguity. You should be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with day-to-day operational work, and thrive in a performance-driven culture.

This role offers high visibility and the opportunity to directly shape how teams grow and perform in a key international market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary People Business Partner for their region, partnering closely with regional leadership to align people strategy with business goals and planned growth
  • Drive retention and reduce attrition by proactively identifying talent risks and implementing data-informed interventions
  • Own and execute the end-to-end performance management lifecycle, including goal setting, 90day reviews, performance cycles, and talent planning
  • Establish and reinforce a high-performance culture with clear expectations, accountability, and differentiation across teams
  • Act as a trusted advisor and coach to managers and senior leaders, providing candid guidance on performance, organizational design, and employee engagement
  • Lead and manage complex employee relations matters, ensuring timely resolution, risk mitigation, and compliance with local labor laws and regulations
  • Operate as a hands-on partner across the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and day-to-day employee support
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates to support reporting, compliance, and decision-making
  • Identify opportunities to improve and scale People Operations processes, driving efficiency, consistency, and impact
  • Leverage HR systems and data to generate insights, inform decision-making, and enhance overall people practices
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure alignment and execution of people initiatives across regions

Required Skills / Experience

  • 7+ years of HR experience
  • At least 4-6 years in an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Business Partner role, preferably in fast-paced, high-growth environments (ad tech, gaming, tech, or similar)
  • English fluency is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders (Director/VP level) is usually expected
  • Strong experience supporting international teams, with direct experience in China strongly preferred
  • Proven track record managing core HRBP responsibilities, including performance management, talent planning, and complex employee relations within local regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a hands-on individual contributor, balancing strategic partnership with day-to-day execution
  • Experience coaching and influencing senior leaders, with the ability to provide direct, candid feedback and drive decision-making
  • Strong knowledge of local labor laws and employment practices, with the ability to navigate compliance and mitigate risk effectively
  • Experience driving process improvements and scaling people programs in growing organizations
  • Proficiency with HR systems and tools (e.g., BambooHR, Lattice, CultureAmp) and using data to inform decisions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
