Position Overview:

The team seeks to retain the services of a senior asset raising professional to support the commercial activities of the North American Capital Formation team. Reporting into the Head of North American Capital Formation, the successful candidate will play an integral role in the firm’s asset raising efforts across the spectrum of Sagard investment capabilities

Role Responsibilities

  • Design and execute a fundraising plan for institutional investors and platforms within the United States and select other markets opportunistically. Successfully source new LPs and AUM
  • Play a leadership role within Capital Formation on all capital raising activities for Sagard funds - be the “voice of the client” internally
  • Develop and cultivate LP relationships throughout the investment community to promote Sagard’s funds, brand, platform and capabilities
  • Articulate Sagard’s philosophy, products and platform including differentiating characteristics of the organization and commercially relevant fundraises
  • Support the execution of the go-to-market strategy established by the Head of Capital Formation. Act as a “Deal Captain” and lead fundraising assignments directly
  • Systematically map and target investors not presently invested with Sagard
  • Maintain a detailed engagement log and track progress and impact within the established CRM
  • Build relevant and trusted relationships with target limited partners in agreed upon coverage market (i.e. Pension, F&E, Single and Multi-Family office, Consultants, etc.) build and manage a pipeline of probability-weighted opportunities with senior decision makers.

Communication and Investor Relations:

  • Maintain and foster open information flow within the CF/IR team on fundraising initiatives and milestones, in addition to broader investment teams and respective leaders/stakeholders
  • Work with the team to effectively represent and communicate Sagard Fund strategies, investments, portfolio companies, and firm activity to prospective & existing Limited Partners.

Product Specialization:

  • Develop and maintain deep product specialization across the four principal capabilities, and more as new offerings are engineered.  Build and maintain strong knowledge of strategy holdings and activity within portfolios
  • Act as a credible, impactful and effective liaison between deal partners and limited partners.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of  10+ years in a sales capacity including specific alternatives / illiquids expertise
  • Direct experience with long-duration, Private Markets investment strategies is highly desired
  • Relevant and successful project management experience
  • Quantitative proficiency in corporate finance (i.e. understanding investment committee memos, model outputs, returns analysis, complex strategy objectives and portfolio fit etc.)
  • Experience working with investors and understanding their priorities, objectives, constraints, and decision-making processes. Ability to probe and interact effectively with senior LP professionals
  • Track record of closing capital commitments from institutional investors from a specific investment channel or geography across different investment strategies
  • A track record of maintaining high standards of service excellence with both existing clients and prospective investors
  • Undergraduate degree from a top academic institution in Finance, Business, Economics or related field. MBA, CPA, CAIA, CFA are welcome.
