Sagard Healthcare Overview:

Sagard Healthcare invests in royalties and credit backed by approved and commercialized biopharmaceutical products, diagnostics and medical devices. We aim to accelerate the returns on innovation for owners of intellectual property while offering investors an attractive healthcare exposure largely uncorrelated to other asset classes.

Position overview:

Supporting the Sagard Healthcare investment team at Sagard Holdings, the selected candidate will be actively involved in the due diligence, financial modeling, valuation and execution of healthcare royalty and credit investments. This position provides a unique and exciting opportunity to invest in the biopharmaceutical industry and to contribute to the success of a fast-growing alternative asset manager. We are a dynamic and entrepreneurial team focused on building a business for the long run.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research (e.g. reviewing scientific literature, clinical trial data, interviewing physicians, market research on product profiles, pricing, and adoption in the market) to support investment decisions in the Life Sciences sector.
  • Support the deal team as it reviews new investments and help monitor existing investments.
  • Analyze the treatment landscape and assess the clinical profile of pharmaceutical products.
  • Develop and maintain sales forecasts and valuation models for products and companies of interest.
  • Help build complex financial and patient-based models to assist in the investment process
  • Prepare investment presentations and memos, synthesizing key findings from research and financial analysis into actionable investment recommendations.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Candidate has completed an undergraduate degree in Life Sciences, Commerce, Finance, or other related fields;
  • Minimum 2-4 years of relevant work experience in asset management, investment banking or consulting, with a focus on biopharma or healthcare
  • Demonstrated interest in investing and understanding of the biopharmaceutical industry;
  • Commitment to stay current on a variety of issues impacting the Life Sciences sector.
  • Quantitative, with strong research, data analysis, financial modeling and problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting concepts;
  • Must demonstrate Sagard's core values, including strong ethics, professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and discretion;
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks while producing high-quality deliverables under demanding timelines
  • Must have the capacity to adapt to change, to be versatile and flexible;
  • Works effectively both in teams and independently; and,
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
  • Based in Toronto, and able to adapt to a hybrid working model;
