About the Opportunity: Sagent, an innovative technology company in the housing and lending space, is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist. In this position, you will be a key contributor to our Accounting and Finance team, responsible for the Accounts Payable function, ensuring the integrity of financial transactions. We are seeking a skilled Accounts Payable Specialist who is detail-oriented, organized and has excellent problem-solving skills. This role requires a candidate with strong organizational skills, detail theoretical knowledge base, specific functional expertise, and the ability to provide guidance to a growing Accounts Payable function within Sagent. 

 

Your day-to-day at Sagent:

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding, approval workflows, and adherence to company policies
  • Review and monitor Sagent’s Accounts Payables mailboxes to ensure all transactions are captured on our P2P platform and respond to inquiries within 48 hours.
  • Learn and become a subject matter expert on our P2P platform (Yooz). 
  • Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable records, reconcile statements, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
  • Complete weekly cash forecast report and accounts payable aging report. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Procurement, and Operations, to streamline processes and communication
  • Assist with monthly KPI’s to identify areas for improvement 
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and trends in accounts payable to continuously improve processes
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, resolve payment discrepancies, and address inquiries, foster positive partnerships
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, including but not limited to maintenance of W-9s, and preparation of 1099s

 

We would love to hear from you if you have: 

  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant discipline preferred, or experience in Lieu of Degree

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an Accounts Payable function. 
  • Full understanding of how Accounts Payable impacts the balance sheet, account reconciliations and the Financial Statements
  • Strong accounting and finance knowledge and experience (month/year-end close, general ledger, financial systems, financial reporting, consolidations, cash flow modeling, reconciliations, AR, AP, etc.)
  • Application of theoretical knowledge to achieve accounting goals through individual and team contributions.
  • Ability to provide guidance to others as a project manager or lead, demonstrating technical expertise.
  • Proficiency using the P2P (Yooz) platform
  • Expert level Microsoft Excel skills
