As a Design Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of Graphic Designers. You and your team will produce creative deliverables from concept to completion, including but not limited to emails, landing pages, and social media assets. We're looking for someone who is highly organized, proactive, positive, and passionate about creating beautiful and functional designs. You'll also be highly skilled in communication, an independent problem solver, have exceptional time management skills, and high attention to detail. You'll be collaborating with other team leaders as well as (other) designers, developers, and account coordinators. 

This position is fully remote, but there will be opportunities to attend events with teammates in person for those in the Austin, TX area.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and delegate direct team member's tasks each morning
  • Lead team trainings and huddles and assist Graphic Designers with questions about their assignments
  • Review work submitted by direct reports to ensure quality, accuracy, and brand compliance before passing it to the client for review
  • Assist in the upkeep of client brand profiles and asset organization
  • Follow and enforce internal processes and policies with designers you support
  • Conduct monthly 1:1 sessions with each of your direct reports, with a focus on tracking and coaching their individual growth 
  • Develop and track goals for your direct reports through the organization’s performance review cycle
  • Review and approve direct report’s time off requests
  • Train newly hired designers assigned to your team using provided materials, help with updating training materials as needed
  • Design large scale, business-critical projects from concept to completion with minimal supervision using Adobe CC and various web apps
  • Create assets for email, web pages, and social media
  • Interpret project briefs to best meet clients’ needs, and provide teammates with insight on best practices and strategies from a design perspective
  • Collaborate on and clearly communicate about projects with internal teammates, using project management skills to ensure all goals and deadlines are completed as planned. 
  • Keep abreast of current design and industry trends and share this knowledge with your team
  • Participate in Extended Leadership Team discussions and help make decisions about process and policy updates to improve internal operations
  • Advocate for the needs of your team members to upper leadership, and also advocate for the needs of leadership/the organization as a whole to you advocate for team members to get their buy-in and participation
  • Occasionally assist with coordinating team-building events for the Creative Department

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficient graphic and web design skills
  • Ability to adapt design style to fit multiple brands and maintain consistency within each
  • Strong understanding of key design principles such as typographical hierarchy, alignment, white space, etc.
  • Excels in collaborative environments
  • Passion for tech and innovation
  • Clear and concise communicator
  • Ability to manage time well to complete assigned tasks by deadline, and coach direct reports to do the same
  • Ability to adapt and learn quickly
  • Creative & quick problem-solving skills
  • High level of efficiency and accuracy - very detail oriented and organized

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years work experience OR equivalent combination of education and freelance experience in Graphic Design
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BFA in Design, Communications, or relevant field preferred
  • Marketing experience preferred

  • WordPress/Elementor Experience
  • Animation Experience
  • UX/UI knowledge

Job Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $58,000 - $65,000 + $18K in Benefits

COVID-19 considerations:

We are currently working remotely with plans to move to an optional, hybrid work-from-home/in-office model in the future.
