Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Torrance, CA

Who We Are

We are pioneering modular motion technologies to power the next generation of innovation for Industrial, Aerospace and Defense. If you're excited about disrupting legacy industries, and passionate about motor control technology, let's chat!

We are at the forefront of innovation, crafting exclusive motion control components that propel the industrial, aerospace, and defense sectors into the future.

A couple other things:

  • We are open to relocating you
  • We have great benefits
  • We are well funded, and already generating revenue
  • We are located in beautiful Torrance, CA and just moved into a new large hangar facility

What you'll do:

We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to own and optimize the production processes for our precision motion control components. You will be a critical link between design and the shop floor, ensuring parts are built right, on time, and at scale.

  • Process Development: Create, document, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, and assembly procedures for electromagnetic actuators, gearboxes, and avionics enclosures.
  • DFM/DFA Advocacy: Partner with mechanical design engineers from early concept stages to drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), reducing cost and cycle time without compromising performance.
  • Tooling & Fixtures: Design and procure production tooling, jigs, and fixtures to enable repeatable, high-quality assembly of precision mechanisms including gears, bearings, lead screws, braking systems, and encoders.
  • Supply Chain & Quality: Collaborate closely with external suppliers and machine shops to qualify vendors, review first articles, and manage non-conformances and manufacturing deviations to maintain rigorous quality standards.
  • GD&T & Drawing Review: Interpret and redline 2D engineering drawings; work with design teams to ensure GD&T callouts per ASME Y14.5 are manufacturable and inspection-ready.
  • Hands-On Execution: Maintain a build-measure-improve mindset — you are comfortable on the shop floor assembling, troubleshooting, and debugging hardware alongside technicians.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA) for production escapes; implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve throughput.

What You Need

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a precision, low-to-mid volume production environment, ideally in aerospace, defense, or industrial automation.
  • Process Knowledge: Deep expertise in machining, tight-tolerance assembly, and electromechanical integration processes.
  • GD&T Fluency: Strong command of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards; ability to read, interpret, and provide feedback on complex 2D drawings.
  • CAD Proficiency: Working knowledge of SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD tools for reviewing designs and creating manufacturing aids.
  • Quality Systems: Familiarity with AS9100, FAIR/PPAP processes, and inspection methodologies including CMM and functional gauging.
  • Standards & Compliance: Faimility with
  • Short-stop Mindset: Ability to go play any position on the field and cover the gaps you see opening

Nice to Have

  • Test Equipment: Experience designing or procuring custom test fixtures and writing formal inspection/test procedures.
  • Gearbox & Drivetrain: Hands-on production experience with precision gearboxes, including lubrication processes, backlash measurement, and AGMA-compliant inspection.
  • ERP/MRP Systems: Experience using production planning or MRP tools to manage BOMs, routings, and work orders.
  • Lean/Six Sigma: Formal training or certification in lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Dual-Environment Experience: Comfort navigating both high-compliance aerospace programs and fast-paced, lean R&D environments.

What we have to offer:

We are not just building components. We are reshaping the future of the Aerospace and Defense component industry, which is a $300B+ market! Come join us and help build next generation systems that will make a massive impact at global scale.

  • We offer competitive compensation + equity
  • Exceptional healthcare benefits, Medical is 100% covered by the company
