Mechanical Technician

Torrance, CA

Who We Are

We are pioneering modular motion technologies to power the next generation of innovation for Industrial, Aerospace and Defense. If you're excited about disrupting legacy industries, and passionate about motor control technology, let's chat!

We are at the forefront of innovation, crafting exclusive motion control components that propel the industrial, aerospace, and defense sectors into the future.

A couple other things:

  • We are open to relocating you
  • We have great benefits
  • We are well funded, and already generating revenue
  • We are located in beautiful Torrance, CA and just moved into a new large hangar facility

We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Technician who will play a critical role in assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and validating advanced electromechanical hardware. You will work closely with engineers to bring complex motion‑control systems from concept to flight-ready hardware.

What you'll do:

  • Mechanical Assembly: Build precision electromechanical assemblies including actuators, gear systems, bearings, and structural components using detailed drawings and work instructions.
  • Prototyping & Fabrication: Assist in hand‑fitting, wiring, fastening, and finishing custom hardware for R&D and production builds.
  • Test Setup & Execution: Set up and operate test equipment for environmental, functional, and performance testing in alignment with DO‑160 and MIL‑STD‑810 guidelines.
  • Troubleshooting & Debug: Diagnose mechanical issues, perform root-cause checks, and collaborate with engineers to refine and improve hardware.
  • Instrumentation: Install sensors, strain gauges, and measurement hardware to support qualification testing and system bring‑up.
  • Quality & Documentation: Perform bench checks on parts, verify tolerances using calipers/micrometers/height gauges, and accurately record test data, discrepancies, and build notes.
  • Keep it Organized: Maintain the toolbox, keep an inventory of consumables, and practice 5S methodologies

What you need:

  • Education: Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands‑on experience in Mechanical Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience assembling, testing, or maintaining mechanical or electromechanical systems in aerospace, defense, robotics, automotive, or industrial environments.
  • Tools & Techniques: Strong proficiency with hand tools, torque tools, precision measurement instruments, and standard shop equipment.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Solid understanding of gears, bearings, shafts, fasteners, and mechanical load paths
  • Quality: Ability to interpret 2D mechanical drawings, 3D CAD views, tolerances, and GD&T symbols.
  • Test Experience: Familiarity with preparing hardware for environmental testing including vibration, or thermal testing.
  • Mindset: A builder mentality—comfortable in both a cleanroom and a machine shop; eager to solve problems hands-on.

Nice to have:

  • Process Versatility: Experience navigating both high-compliance, "heavy" programs and fast-paced, lean R&D environments.
  • Flexibility: Ability to shift to the highest priority task and to prevent the future problems.

What we have to offer:

We are not just building components. We are reshaping the future of the Aerospace and Defense component industry, which is a $300B+ market! Come join us and help build next generation systems that will make a massive impact at global scale.

  • We offer competitive compensation + equity
  • Exceptional healthcare benefits, Medical is 100% covered by the company
  • Flexible PTO
