Member of Technical Staff (ML)

Samaya AI is building knowledge discovery tools for domain experts using AI and Large Language Models. Our platform enables users to answer complex questions and uncover hidden insights from large sets of knowledge-intensive documents.

Founded by Maithra Raghu (formerly at Google Brain) and Fabio Petroni (formerly at Meta AI), Samaya AI has incredible firepower in terms of researchers, engineers, and developers with a breadth of AI experience, including Stanford, Meta AI, Google, Microsoft, and more. 

Members of our technical staff develop and deploy large-scale language models (LLMs) which power our knowledge discovery platform. In close collaboration with our other team members, you will build, maintain, and evaluate the core ML components of our knowledge discovery pipelines. Potential skills include: data curation, model training, evaluation, inference optimization, scalable deployment, and research in new ML methods. We are actively accepting applications for future consideration.

Your Opportunity

  • Research and propose cutting-edge neural solutions that solve real-world problems
  • Train, deploy, and evaluate LLMs at scale
  • Design and implement evaluation pipelines to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Optimise inference and training infrastructure for latency and costs

Your first 3 months 

  • You have a strong grasp of Samaya’s ML goals with relation to short-term product focus and longer-term research bets.
  • You have helped define evaluation criteria for critical ML goals.
  • Your contributions have directly improved the quality/latency of various ML tasks in our system.
  • You are finding opportunities to work on interesting and impactful ML problems, with highly skilled and knowledgeable colleagues.

What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated ML expertise, in researching, training, deploying, and optimising LLMs and other models/techniques for knowledge-intensive tasks.
  • Strong programming skills, with proficiency in Python and experience with ML libraries/techniques.
  • Proven track record of working with LLMs and neural information retrieval.
  • Independence, and a willingness to take ownership of tasks
  • Passion for solving challenging problems
  • PhD strongly preferred
