Senior Staff, Design Program Manager
Lab Summary:
Based in New York City, Samsung’s Global UX Studio is an independent design and research studio that explores emerging customer, cultural, design, and technology trends to design, build, and share a joyful, people-centered future for mobile product experiences, looking 5 years out from today. We use hands-on invention to create the north star visions for Samsung’s Galaxy mobile devices of tomorrow and for the One UI experiences that will power them.
We are looking for a world-class Design Program Manager to oversee our explorations, and to shape, organize, and shepherd our portfolio of explorations to success.
Position Summary:
As Design Program Manager, you will be responsible for the operation of the Global UX Studio – from framing and execution against specific projects up to annual and multiyear roadmaps that will inform strategy and impact across the Global UX Studio and Samsung’s Mobile Experience division. You will work directly with the VP and Directors of the Global UX Studios and its designers, researchers, and technologists to lead the Studio to world-class execution against that roadmap.
You will be involved in every aspect of our projects, ensuring that our efforts are planned, executed, and shared efficiently and seamlessly against a plan to realize each of our ambitious explorations. We’re a tight-knit studio, so as owner of the design program of the Studio, you will also define the work itself. The ideal candidate will introduce a product management perspective to our work – providing a strategic and product-oriented mindset to elevate the execution of our craft and guide use the right work, at the right time, for the right stakeholders.
Position Responsibilities:
- Establish the design program management discipline and strategy for the Global UX Studio
- Lead program management, including program definition, organization, resourcing, plan development, scope management, and risk mitigation for our full portfolio of design, research, and technical prototyping projects
- Predict, identify, and mange status, risks, and developments and communicate effectively to stakeholders
- Collaborate and coordinate with cross-functional teams inside and outside of Samsung
- Maintain appropriate program documentation related to deliverables, schedule, and budget
- Establish, negotiate, and manage engagements with outside design agencies and contractors
- Administer program and organizational budgets
- Oversee the physical operations of the Global UX Studio office
- Enable each member of the Studio to do the best work of their career
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree, or Master’s Degree preferred in program management, design operations, product management, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 12+ years in industry-related, consulting, or agency experience managing teams of cross-discipline resources across locations and organizational boundaries with proven results
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, coupled with responsiveness and follow-through on details
- Experience with intuitively selecting and implementing appropriate program and project management strategy, methodologies, and best practices
- Ability to develop strong relationships and enable cohesiveness across diverse individual skills and styles
- Business-level fluency in English
- Proficiency in Korean is a plus
- International and Domestic travel is required
Base Pay Range
$197,800 - $296,600 USD
