Position Summary:

We are looking for a summer intern to conduct advanced research in generative AI for smartphone camera and visual technologies. You will develop and evaluate algorithms that create new visual experiences and improve existing ones, including generative approaches to low-light enhancement, super-resolution, and fast-motion capture. You will work alongside industry experts, learn how flagship camera systems operate, and help explore emerging camera technologies. Your research has the potential to shape future Samsung mobile products.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop generative AI algorithms for computational photography and video, such as low-light imaging, super-resolution, and fast-motion capture.
  • Design neural network architectures and processing pipelines for advanced imaging and video applications.
  • Prototype and evaluate image and video quality using both quantitative metrics and perceptual assessment.
  • Design algorithms that respect mobile system constraints, including power consumption, memory, and runtime performance.
  • Build demos that show the feasibility and usability of new technologies.

Required Skills:

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Hands-on experience with deep learning and computational photography.
  • Coursework on AI/Deep learning, embedded system, and imaging/computer vision algorithms.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interactions with team members.

Special Attributes:

  • Publications or open-source projects in generative imaging, video synthesis, or image restoration (e.g., diffusion models, GANs, or transformer-based approaches).
  • Experience deploying models on mobile or edge hardware, or familiarity with model optimization techniques such as quantization and pruning.
