IP Operations Specialist (Contractor)
This is an exciting role in a fast-paced and dynamic environment working with IP Operations to support the broader IP Group, and all aspects of SSI’s global patent portfolio management.
What You’ll Do
- Substantial knowledge of patent prosecution, including experience with patent docketing systems, tools, and public databases.
- Ability to analytically process data using Excel, and synthesize a large volume of data into concise recommendations for next steps.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with attorneys, outside counsel, inventors, and other business partners to monitor and drive performance; including identifying, developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and process improvement initiatives.
- Track critical objectives and coordinate cross-functionally to ensure strategic and financial goals, including billing and budget management.
- Refine and develop key operational metrics to inform decision-making, including reporting on team’s core IP strategies and initiatives.
- Assist in identifying and implementing tools to optimize workflows within the IP Group, including researching legal tools, evaluating service proposals, and finalizing contracts.
- Independent and strategic thinker with proven interpersonal skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities efficiently, including identifying and proposing continuous improvements to the patent prosecution practices.
Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose headquarter 3 days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time
What You Bring
- 5+ years of patent-specific legal experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate.
- Patent prosecution experience at a large law firm or in-house corporation preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

The pay range below is for all roles at this level across all US locations and functions. Individual pay rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location, as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training.

Base Pay Range
$35 - $45 USD
