Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is a world leader in Memory, System LSI and LCD technologies. As a member of Samsung’s Memory Solutions Lab (MSL), you will be part of an Advanced Research and Development team developing the next generation of enterprise memory and storage technologies. The team innovates, solves key technical problems in areas and products related to Samsung’s HBM, DRAM and NAND flash memory technologies, and tackles a variety of challenging issues in data center, server, and AI software infrastructure.

Joining a team of experts in researching and developing innovative solutions, the candidate will be leveraging existing and emerging technologies to add substantial value to Samsung. The team covers a broad spectrum of topics and is building an ecosystem surrounding efficient utilization of next-generation AI hardware. You will be working with the-state-of-art technologies in the context of vertical integration and optimization across hardware and software.
What You’ll Do
- Build performance-intensive and power-efficient software solutions showcasing state-of-the-art AI competencies
- Conduct key research and development activities to design, develop and evaluate next-generation computing systems for emerging ML/AI workloads
- Create key IPs, implement prototypes, write or publish papers, and do standardization
- Partner with other hardware/software architects to invent new and refine existing algorithms for future products, and contribute to feasibility studies
- Collaborate with universities and international teams
Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time the remainder of your time.

What You Bring
- Bachelors with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or Masters with 3+ years or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical field preferred.
- Prior hardware/software/system co-design experience and ability to collaborate with both the hardware and the software teams effectively
- Demonstrated deep learning algorithm knowledge and expertise in either deep learning compiler, runtime and/or library development for frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
- Must be highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Hands-on experience and skill in optimizing deep learning workloads on heterogeneous hardware backends
- Good knowledge and expertise in AI accelerator hardware design and architecture
- Familiarity with SOTA in areas such as LLM, Recommendation Systems, Video understanding, GNN, Reinforcement learning, Multimodal ML, etc
- Good analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience in performance profiling and bottleneck analysis

Individual pay rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location, as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training. Base Pay Range
$132,000 - $198,000 USD
