Senior iOS Engineer (AI-Accelerated)

Sandboxx is seeking a Senior Android Engineer who thrives in product-focused teams and is passionate about delivering seamless, secure, and delightful mobile experiences. You’ll lead the development of our Android app used by thousands of military families, service members, and veterans—and help shape how we incorporate AI to accelerate our engineering workflow and user experience.

What You’ll Do
- Build and enhance our flagship iOS app using Swift and modern frameworks like SwiftUI and Combine.
- Collaborate with design and product teams to turn high-fidelity designs into elegant, performant UI on iPhone and iPad.
- Integrate AI-powered features that support personalization, messaging intelligence, and in-app guidance using tools like CoreML, Firebase ML, or ChatGPT APIs.
- Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Xcode Suggestions) to boost velocity and maintain high-quality standards.
- Ensure smooth integration with backend APIs (GraphQL, REST), and work closely with backend engineers on contract definition and data flow.
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployment using tools like Xcode Cloud, Fastlane, and GitHub Actions.
- Monitor crash reports, performance metrics, and customer feedback to continuously iterate and improve the app.
- Participate in code reviews, technical planning, and mentoring to elevate the quality and consistency of our iOS codebase.
About You
- 5+ years of experience building iOS applications in Swift at scale; strong portfolio of apps in the App Store is a plus.
- Proficiency in SwiftUI, UIKit, and Combine (or experience with RxSwift and transitioning to Combine).
- Experience working in a modular iOS architecture with separation of concerns (MVC, MVVM, VIPER, or Clean Architecture).
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted developer tools in your workflow.
- Comfortable implementing offline-first features, background tasks, and optimizing app startup and runtime performance.
- Solid understanding of mobile security, privacy best practices, and Apple’s App Store guidelines.
- Familiarity with Core Data, Push Notifications, Firebase, and Analytics frameworks.
- Experience with snapshot/UI/unit testing frameworks like XCTest, Quick/Nimble, or XCUITest.
- Excellent communication skills, thrives in remote-first teams, and takes ownership from idea to execution.
- Bonus: Experience working with watchOS, widgets, or other Apple platforms.

Interview Process
- Application Review – Assessed by our hiring manager.
- CTO Chat – 30-minute intro focused on team fit and values.
- Technical Deep Dive – 1-hour discussion with our Lead Android Engineer.
- In-depth Coding Session – A 4-hour real-world programming exercise focused on architectural thinking, clean code, and testing. Done in a collaborative format.
- Virtual Panel Interview – 2 hours with team stakeholders. Includes a real-world Android coding exercise (we’ll share context beforehand).
- Offer Stage – If it’s a match, we move fast.
