About the Cybersecurity Intern Role:
Sands Capital is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern who will work on our Technology Team with our Security Operations Center (SOC) engineers to monitor threats, triage alerts, scan the environment, and keep the enterprise secure through automation and systems integration.
Our internship program serves to identify motivated and talented undergraduate students who will gain relevant skills and knowledge through the internship. The 2025 summer internship program will run from June 2, 2025 to August 8, 2025.
Work Expectations:
The work location for this role is expected to be Sands Capital’s headquarters in Arlington, Virginia at a minimum of four days per week in-office (specifically, Tuesdays through Thursdays, and another day of choice). Please know that the hybrid schedule is subject to change, as directed by our Executive Management Team, at any time.
Position Responsibilities:
- Monitoring, building, and triaging detections within our cybersecurity systems using a SIEM and other detection platforms;
- Assisting with periodic security testing and scanning of network and systems, including phishing tests, network system scans, and security validation;
- Designing, assessing, and enforcing security and operational best practices across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps deployments;
- Analyzing security intelligence to determine applicability within the environment;
- Developing other automations or reports to improve security communication to the CISO and other Cyber-focused members of the team;
- Performing other position responsibilities, as needed; and

Position Qualifications:
- 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate students interested in exploring a career in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems, or Computer Science;
- Knowledge of vulnerability management, alert triage, and SIEM operations;
- Understanding of security concepts such as IDS/IPS, firewalls, access control, and secure software development practices;
- Knowledge of scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell);
- Understanding of Azure public cloud, containers, and infrastructure as code standards; and
- Query Languages or API use knowledge (nice to have).

Salary:
Sands Capital offers competitive compensation (and generous benefits for interns who exceed 90 days of employment or otherwise meet the relevant eligibility criteria as determined by Sands Capital’s benefit plan documents). For this role, the hourly rate ranges from $20/hour to $30/hour and will be determined by the candidate’s grade level as well as relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
