Position Summary:

Sands Capital is seeking a motivated Trader to oversee the trading order life cycle by executing orders and performing the data analysis and reporting necessary to support a 24/7 global trading desk. Furthermore, the Trader will collaborate with key members from Operations, Compliance, and Client Service teams to help mitigate operational risk.

The key component of this position is live Asia and Europe trading coverage. With that said, this trading position will require regular off-hours/overnight trading. Hours will be approximately 7pm – 3am ET.

Work Expectations:  

Given the anticipated hours of the position’s requirements, the preferred work location for this individual would be a California-based hire (must be a resident of the state of CA). Sands Capital is also open to other locations, such as Arlington, VA (HQ) or the broader Washington, D.C. area, residents of Massachusetts, and residents of New York (noting again that this trading position will require regular off-hours/overnight trading).

If the person hired is assigned to a location other than Arlington, VA (HQ), the role will require occasional travel to HQ.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to Best Execution principles, as described by both policy and Head of Global Trading.
  • Managing relationships with sell-side counterparts for execution and market color purposes. 
  • Building rapport with buy-side counterparts to understand and influence best trading practice.
  • Supporting PM and Investment Teams with relevant trading and market commentary.
  • Evaluating trading systems and tactics, with an emphasis on liquidity sourcing and venue analysis in international markets.
  • Assisting with commission management.
  • Assisting the Head of Global trading in vetting and implementing industry best practices and trading platforms.
  • Performing other position responsibilities, as needed.

Position Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university (additional trading certifications are preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant, professional experience in trade execution, middle-office, or operations experience in the investment management industry.
  • Advanced ability in MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of Trade Cost, Venue, and Equity analysis.
  • Experience with commission management systems and practices.
  • Knowledge of market micro-structure, particularly in international markets.

Salary and Benefits:

The compensation for this role includes a base salary range of $135,000 to $185,000 (as determined by the candidate’s professional experience and relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities), as well as a discretionary, performance-based bonus. Bonus targets may vary by position and are based on both individual achievement as well as broader firm performance.
