Position: Lead Mental Health Technician
Location: Castle Rock, CO | Adolescent Residential Treatment Center
Schedule: Variable Schedule
Compensation: $22-24 Per Hour + FT Benefits.
About The Role
As a Lead Behavioral Health Technician, you will take on a leadership role within the direct care team, supporting clients through their recovery journey while guiding and mentoring fellow Behavioral Health Technicians. You will help ensure a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment, coordinate with clinical and operational leadership, and serve as a key point of contact during shifts. This role combines compassionate client care, peer leadership, and operational accountability to uphold Sandstone Care’s commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Support:
- Provide day-to-day oversight and mentorship for Behavioral Health Technicians.
- Ensure shift coverage, delegate tasks appropriately, and serve as a resource for clinical or procedural questions.
- Support onboarding and training of new team members.
Client Support & Supervision:
- Monitor and guide clients during therapeutic and recreational activities.
- Facilitate life skills coaching, daily living support, and structured routines in alignment with individualized treatment goals.
Crisis Management:
- Lead incident response and utilize de-escalation techniques to support client and staff safety.
- Document and communicate critical incidents in collaboration with leadership.
Collaboration:
- Act as the liaison between the BHT team and clinical/operational leadership.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and communicate client observations.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of client behavior, shift notes, and incident reports.
- Monitor adherence to company policies, safety protocols, and licensing standards.
Trauma-Informed Care:

Model and promote compassionate, trauma-informed interactions with clients and staff alike.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Health or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: 3+ years in substance abuse or co-occurring disorder treatment; experience in detox, residential, or PHP/IOP settings preferred.
- Skills: Previous Leadership, crisis management, and interpersonal communication.
- Certifications: CPR (or willingness to obtain); valid driver’s license.
- Upon hire candidates will need to submit/pass a full background check including fingerprinting, and a Motor Vehicle Report to qualify for employment
