Lead Accountant

Reports To: Corporate Controller
Location: Remote
Compensation: $105,000–$115,000 Annual Salary + Benefits

About the Role

The Lead Accountant plays a key role in managing complex accounting processes, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP (including ASC 606 and ASC 842), and supporting system integrations that impact financial reporting. This role is ideal for a CPA-track professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys bridging accounting policy with operational systems. The Lead Accountant will lead initiatives to improve automation, accuracy, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the design and implementation of efficient data flow processes between the EHR, RCM, and Financial Reporting System to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for electronic data feeds and automation to reduce manual entry and improve data integrity.
  • Collaborate with internal resources and third-parties to develop scalable integration solutions for invoice, cash receipts, and adjustment journal entries.
  • Review contracts and system configurations to ensure proper accounting treatment under ASC 606.
  • Develop and implement best practice revenue recognition procedures that accurately reflect gross charges, contractual allowances, patient payments, bad debt, and revenue reserves.
  • Establish and maintain a formal Revenue Recognition Policy in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Perform recurring reserve analyses and ensure appropriate documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Reconcile revenue from RCM systems to financial statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy of net revenue reporting.
  • Collaborate with Payor Contracting, FP&A, and Operations to assess financial impact of new agreements and system changes.
  • Standardize manual entry processes and controls to ensure consistency and reduce errors.
  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for financial processes, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, system integrations, and reconciliations.
  • Support external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Assist in drafting and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.

 

 

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA track or certification required.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience including technical accounting and systems exposure, preferably in a public accounting/private equity-backed or healthcare environment.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 and internal controls.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Sage Intact a plus) and automation tools
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools; experience with system integrations a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
