Psychiatrist, Geriatric Psychiatry Hospital (Part-time Inpatient)

POSITION SUMMARY
As a Part-Time Psychiatrist, you will provide inpatient psychiatric care within our 12-bed Geriatric Psychiatry Hospital located at the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living. This acute inpatient unit serves a diverse population of older adults from the Bay Area and surrounding counties and operates within a larger campus offering multiple levels of geriatric medical and residential care. You will work in a highly collegial, multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering exceptional psychiatric care to older adults. This position offers the opportunity to work within a nonprofit, mission-driven organization and may include a teaching appointment through UCSF’s Department of Psychiatry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for geriatric inpatients.
- Manage psychopharmacological treatment plans and monitor patient progress.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including nursing, social services, rehabilitation, and medical staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings and case conferences.
- Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and hospital regulations and standards of practice.
- Contribute to a collegial and team-oriented work environment.
- Participate in teaching activities as applicable, including potential involvement with UCSF trainees.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
- Current and valid California medical license.
- DEA registration.
- Experience providing inpatient psychiatric care.
- Demonstrated interest in geriatric psychiatry and working with older adults.
- Strong collaboration and interdisciplinary communication skills.
- Fellowship training or additional experience in Geriatric Psychiatry preferred.
- Academic or teaching experience preferred.
- Interest in combining inpatient practice with private practice or transitional career phase welcomed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods within a clinical environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergent clinical situation
