Nestled in San Francisco's Excelsior neighborhood on a nine-acre campus, the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) is a center of excellence in providing a continuum of care. POSITION SUMMARY
As a Driver, you will be responsible for transporting residents and guests to scheduled destinations in a safe, timely, and courteous manner. You will support resident mobility needs while ensuring passenger safety, maintaining vehicle readiness, and providing a high level of customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Transport residents and guests to scheduled destinations safely and on time.
• Maintain accurate records of transportation services provided.
• Prioritize passenger safety at all times and maintain accountability of passengers.
• Assist passengers with entering and exiting vehicles, including loading and unloading parcels.
• Perform pre-trip vehicle inspections, including checking fuel, oil, tires, and overall readiness.
• Record routine maintenance and service checks and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Notify supervisor of necessary repairs and vehicle malfunctions.
• Operate vehicles in accordance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Participate in Department of Transportation (DOT) drug testing and other required safe driving programs.
• Notify supervisor immediately of resident concerns, incidents, or changes in condition.
• Attend department meetings and required in-service trainings.
• Wear assigned uniform in accordance with department standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB DETAILS
• Pay Rate: $24.09 per hour
• Hours: On-Call, expected to cover extended leave with possibility of becoming full-time
• Shift Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
• Days Off: Saturday & Sunday
• Working Days: Monday - Friday
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid California Class C or Class B driver’s license with passenger endorsement required.
• Clean driving record with no major violations.
• Experience working with senior populations preferred.
• Ability to safely transport residents, including those using wheelchairs.
• Ability to read maps and follow directions accurately.
• Ability to operate various vehicle types, including passenger cars, vans, and buses.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a courteous, friendly, and helpful attitude at all times.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to sit and operate a vehicle for up to six (6) hours per day.
• Ability to stoop, bend, stretch, and squat to load and unload cargo.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, including luggage and groceries.
• Ability to work outdoors and tolerate varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
• Ability to safely operate vehicles on wet or slippery roads.
