What's the Short Version?

The Sr Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) plays a key role in ensuring software projects, products and enhancements meet SanMar's quality standards by implementing automated testing solutions and frameworks that increase testing efficiencies and reduce cycle times. They are responsible for developing and maintaining test automation frameworks, standards and coding guidelines based on industry best practices and SanMar QA standards.

 

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Manage the automation deliverables of a small automation team (ex. code review, code merge).
  • Standardize test automation processes across multiple IT teams.
  • Build a robust and scalable automation framework to support current and future technology stack.
  • Select and standardize QA automation tools, test environment and test data management efforts while applying best practices.
  • Maintain existing automation scripts as required.
  • Train and mentor QA staff on automation processes, frameworks, coding, tools and acquiring relevant automation expertise and domain knowledge.
  • Manage and assign workloads to automation engineers, as necessary.
  • Evaluate and design automated scripts to ensure end-to-end test coverage; assist with execution, as needed.
  • Assist in creation of dedicated test environment and test data management practices for automation and performance testing.
  • Prepare and maintain complex data sets to test logic, error handling and system workflows for automation.
  • Assist in integrating automation with software delivery pipeline and operationalizing automated smoke tests and daily automated runs for software releases.
  • Design automation metrics and track automation ROI.
  • Document and report automation program status to management.
  • Estimate automated testing effort levels and skill set needs.
  • Contribute to performance and scalability testing efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

 

What Are We Looking For?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years relevant experience as a SDET
  • Experience with web services automation (SOAP and REST) using tools like Soap-UI, WebTest, Postman, or REST Assured, including good working knowledge of XML and JSON.
  • Experience with performance testing or working knowledge of tools like JMeter, NeoLoad, or LoadRunner is preferred.
  • Experience and/or understanding of middleware is a plus.
  • Technical hands-on experience developing automation frameworks and solutions using proprietary and/or open-source tools.
  • Strong ability to create data-driven automated frameworks for extensive UI and back-end data validation using SQL and one or more programming languages like Java, JavaScript, C#, VB Script, Python, or Ruby.
  • Extensive experience with one or more automation tools like Selenium WebDriver, Coded-UI etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery and DevOps; experience using tools like Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with performance testing or working knowledge of tools like JMeter, NeoLoad, or LoadRunner is preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill using code repositories, preferably Git.
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of Agile and rapid development methodologies.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to find root cause of complex issues required.
  • Demonstrated skill in testing enterprise multi-tiered software.
  • Knowledge of security, performance, load, stress and scalability testing a plus.
  • Passion for finding bottlenecks and thresholds in existing code through the use of automation tools.
  • Passion for continuing education and improving code quality through interaction with development team.
  • Demonstrated skill in using coding standards and being an active participant in code reviews.
  • Strong time management skills with a history of meeting commitments.
  • Communicates a ‘can do’ attitude and positive outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

What's Our Offer?

Salary Range: You`ll earn between $120,000 - $160,000 annually, depending on experience.

 

Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.

 

Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 112 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

What Should You Expect?

Hybrid: SanMar's Eastpointe office is located in Issaquah, WA in the Seattle metropolitan area. Employees are required to work in our offices Tuesday through Thursday each week and additional days may be added based on business needs. Our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. Periodic travel may be required. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and participating in virtual and in-person meetings. Frequent use of hands for keyboarding and standard office equipment is required. Occasional standing, walking, and reaching may be needed to attend meetings or collaborate in an office setting. The role requires the ability to perform close visual work on a computer for extended periods. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10–15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
