Enterprise Safety and Security Director

What's the Short Version?

The Enterprise Safety & Security Director develops and leads SanMar's enterprise approach to protecting our people, facilities, assets, and operations. Reporting to Legal, this highly collaborative leader establishes standards, strengthens preparedness, advises leaders on risk, and partners across the organization to create practical, consistent solutions that support SanMar's culture and continued growth.

 

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Develop and lead SanMar's enterprise safety and security strategy, establishing standards, governance, and long-term plans that protect people, facilities, assets, and operations while supporting business growth.
  • Build and maintain an enterprise risk management approach for physical security, workplace safety, business continuity, crisis preparedness, and operational resilience.
  • Partner with leaders across all departments and confer with external vendors to identify risks, prioritize mitigation efforts, and drive consistent practices across the organization.
  • Lead security, safety, and risk assessments for facilities, operations, expansion projects, and new site selection, providing recommendations that reduce risk and support business objectives.
  • Establish enterprise standards for access control, visitor management, investigations, emergency response, threat assessment, workplace violence prevention, and physical security systems.
  • Lead business continuity and crisis management programs, including incident response planning, tabletop exercises, emergency preparedness, and recovery strategies.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on enterprise risks, security trends, incidents, audit findings, and program effectiveness, translating complex risks into practical business decisions.
  • Develop training, communication, and awareness programs that strengthen preparedness, accountability, and a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Participate in each location’s Safety Committee and develop company policy and guidance regarding safety regulations and requirements from agencies including DOSH, OSHA, EPA and DOT.
  • Accompany and work with inspectors for onsite visits and ensure compliance with follow-up tasks and responses for OSHA or other government agencies.
  • Monitor emerging risks, industry trends, regulatory requirements, and evolving threats, recommending proactive improvements to strengthen organizational resilience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Are We Looking For?

  • 10+ years of related education and/or professional experience in security, safety, risk, asset protection, or related operations.
  • Proven program-building, influence, communication, and change-leadership skills.
  • Ability to build influence and alignment across the enterprise without direct authority, driving consistency, accountability, and adoption of safety and security standards.
  • CPP, PSP, CSP, CHST, OHST or comparable certification preferred.

 

What's Our Offer?

Salary Range: You`ll earn between $120,000 - $160,000 annually, depending on experience.

 

Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 15% of base salary.

 

Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 152 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

What Should You Expect?

Hybrid: SanMar's Eastpointe office is located in Issaquah, WA in the Seattle metropolitan area. Employees are required to work in our offices Tuesday through Thursday each week and additional days may be added based on business needs. Our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. Periodic travel may be required. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and participating in virtual and in-person meetings. Frequent use of hands for keyboarding and standard office equipment is required. Occasional standing, walking, and reaching may be needed to attend meetings or collaborate in an office setting. The role requires the ability to perform close visual work on a computer for extended periods. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10–15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
