What You’ll Do:

The Vice President will primarily work on Sapphire Partners venture fund investment strategies across primary fund commitments, secondaries, direct co-investments and special situations. Typical responsibilities include participating in meetings with fund managers, proactive sourcing and conducting due diligence of potential investment opportunities as well as overseeing the diligence work of associates, monitoring existing investments, modeling and analyzing fund returns, managing the deal pipeline and data analysis for research and internal projects. The Vice President will partner with venture firms with a variety of investment interests, spanning multiple geographies and will gain experience working with all investment professionals across the portfolio. Most of the Vice President’s work will be to support the firm’s fund investment strategies; however, some portion of their work may be dedicated to supporting the firm’s operations. A portion of this person’s time may also be dedicated to firm-building activities, such as recruiting or supporting the firm’s marketing initiatives. This position has the potential to be a Partner-track opportunity for exceptional performers and will have exposure to all levels of the firm.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5-7 years of capital allocation, asset management, venture capital or private equity investing or other relevant working experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in secondary transactions and/or direct private investments with experience leading a deal from initial diligence through closing.
  • Extensive knowledge of and interest in the venture capital, growth and technology landscape.
  • Mastery of Excel, significant experience creating and evaluating financial models.
  • Prior experience with private fund placement documents, financial reports and investor presentations.
  • High degree of professional presence including clear communication, ownership of work output and timely, accurate and reliable deliverables.
  • Experience interacting with and communicating with venture capital and/or private equity general partners.
  • Outstanding academic credentials.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented personality who can also work independently.
  • Willing to work in-office at least 3 days a week (2 days in SF, 1 in Menlo Park)
  • Occasional travel required

Base Salary Range: $175K to $225K
