SVP of Campus Marketing Job Description

Reports to: Student CEO

Classification: Part-time

HQ Sponsor: Marketing & Events Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Type: Hourly

Job Summary: As the SVP of Campus Marketing you will bring promotional tactics to life on your campus, effectively driving revenue to the cafe. In this position, you will have a line into the HQ marketing team to understand strategies, campaign priorities, and marketing budgets unique to your cafe and campus. You will be the primary brand representative on your campus–plugging into student groups, events, and overseeing your campus ‘Brand Ambassador’ program.

Open to all ELP Cafes! - In lieu of a formal interview, applicants who meet the qualifications and receive approval from their Operational lead will complete a video submission. You will receive the questions and have time to prepare before submitting your response.

Who You Will Support

  • Student CEO: Work together to market the cafe, drive top line sales and build community leadership on campus
  • HQ Marketing Team: Create and execute locally-driven mini marketing plans that engage the Saxbys community on campus
  • Student VP of Campus Recruiting: Collaborate to drive widespread campus awareness of the opportunities on the Saxbys team

What You Will Own

Place - Ensure the Saxbys cafe is a well-known and well-utilized cornerstone of your college campus

  • Develop and maintain relationships with campus organizations, student groups and local organizations to ensure that your Saxbys cafe is an integral part of the community that it serves
  • Prioritize and implement tabling events and high-reach activations (visible to at least 10% of campus community) to drive top line sales in priority menu categories

Product - Ensure your Saxbys cafe is well-merchandised and ready to serve guests during quarterly product rollouts

  • Partner with your SCEO to align cafe with marketing & product planograms
  • Ensure the campaign vision comes to life as planned in your cafe

Price - Ensure your Saxbys cafe is accessible to the campus’ student body with the tender (campus dollars + meal plan) and platforms (mobile ordering) they rely upon

  • Complete a brief daily audit of the Saxbys app to ensure the hours, prices, and items are correct
  • Troubleshoot the brand’s availability on campus ordering platforms (e.g. GrubHub); flag any issues to Saxbys HQ and recommend improvements

Promotion - Drive brand awareness and student engagement across campus

  • Build and lead a community by identifying, reaching out to, qualifying and converting Saxbys Brand Ambassadors on campus to execute activations; track their monthly content; leverage these communities to drive awareness that students can use campus-specific tender at Saxbys (where applicable)
  • Develop and foster relationships with campus influencers (focusing on high follower count); pitch partnerships that lead to content highlighting the cafe, our products and the community involvement of Saxbys on your campus

What Success Looks Like

  • Successful planning and execution of at least two tabling events (or high-reach activations) each week at impactful locations outside of the cafe
  • Smooth execution of quarterly product rollouts
  • Any campus ordering issues flagged and resolved within the same day
  • Successfully lock-in 3 high-reach campus influencer partnerships each semester that result in increased physical traffic to the cafe and digital traffic to Saxbys social media accounts

  • Professional Communication: Enhanced ability in verbal and written communication, ability to successfully pitch partnerships; networking to build professional relationships
  • Project Management: Skills in organizing, planning and executing projects, including setting timelines, coordinating with team members and stakeholders, and meeting deadlines
  • Branding Knowledge: Understanding brand positioning, messaging, and how to maintain brand consistency across channels

  • 8-10 hours/week, in addition to regular cafe responsibilities  
  • A servant leadership approach by providing the tools the team needs, completing tasks alongside the team, and giving productive feedback and direction.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Physical requirements:
    • Able to stand, walk, and smile for extended periods of time 
    • Able to stoop and kneel
    • Push, pull, lift or carry up to 35 lbs
    • Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps
