Pay Type: Hourly

SVP of HR is opened to Fair Workweek Cafes;

Job Summary: In this position, you will serve as the primary Human Resources leader within your café, owning and supporting all aspects of the team member lifecycle—from recruiting and onboarding to engagement and compliance. You will ensure every team member has a consistent, values-driven experience while maintaining operational excellence and compliance standards.

You will work cross-functionally with the Student CEO and HQ Talent and Operations Teams to build a strong talent pipeline, foster an engaging culture, and uphold HR integrity across the café.

Who You Will Support

  • Student CEO & Operations Lead: Partner on cafe hiring needs, new team member onboarding, team engagement, and compliance
  • HQ Recruiting Team: Support sourcing strategies for cafe team members and talent pipeline development 

HQ People Operations Team: Ensure compliance, data integrity, and HR best practices

  • Café Team Members: Create a positive, engaging, and compliant work environment

What You Will Own

Team Member Sourcing & Annual Reapplication - Identify where to find potential candidates and create positive interest about Saxbys roles on campus; drive annual contract renewal applications

    • Identify and explore various sources of candidates, including student groups, team member referrals, and campus activations to attract new applicants
    • Be an ambassador of the Saxbys brand on your campus (a Go-Getter, outgoing and uplifting); showcase our cafe culture; highlight our values, community involvement and team member experiences 
    • In Spring semesters, drive team member reapplications as part of the annual contract renewal process


New Team Member Onboarding - Maintain compliance and data integrity to onboard new hires into all Saxbys systems and policies

    • Own onboarding process execution for all new team members, post-I-9 verification
    • Establish recurring office hours to orient new hires to all key Saxbys systems, including Workforce and Schoox; confirm direct deposit and personal profile are established in Workforce
    • Confirm new hires provide minimum 16 hours of weekly availability in Workforce 
    • Facilitate cafe tours, provide uniform shirts, and clarify new hires’ questions prior to their first shift
    • Demonstrate professionalism in keeping sensitive identifying information about team members confidential 
    • Support facilitating and leading training shifts for new hires as needed


Cafe Team Member Engagement - Contribute to a positive work environment where all team members feel a strong sense of community and belonging

    • Promote consistent team member recognition through Mission Moments and shout outs across team communication channels
    • Own participation in Cafe Engagement Survey each semester; communicate the value of participating to team members 
    • Plan and execute at least 1 team-building event per semester to promote community and culture among team members


*Fair Workweek Compliance (applicable cafes only) - Support Student CEO in maintaining Fair Workweek compliance through accurate documentation 

    • Complete daily time punch check to identify any variations from posted schedule
    • Document all variations from posted schedule on the Consent to Schedule Change form and printed schedule in cafe binder
    • Add relevant documentation related to schedule changes in the Cafe Master Folder 
    • Support Student CEO in preparing for Fair Workweek audits

 

What Success Looks Like

  • Conduct minimum 5 campus activations (tabling events, classroom presentations, digital placements) each semester to promote open cafe roles
  • Team member participation in biannual Cafe Engagement Survey meets or exceeds 50%
  • 100% team member contract renewal applications submitted on time (Spring semester only) 
  • 100% of schedule variations documented on the Consent to Schedule Change form and printed schedule (FWW cafes only) 
  • Semester average Fair Workweek audit scores meet or exceed 80% (FWW cafes only) 

 

What Competencies You Should Gain

Candidate Sourcing Skills: Proficient in using various sourcing methods to identify potential candidates Onboarding Process Management: Execute employment verification and onboarding processes to maintain data integrity and promote a positive transition to the team Compliance and Risk Management: Prepare documentation in compliance with local labor laws to mitigate organizational risk and prepare cafe team for compliance audits. Team Member Engagement: Analyze team member feedback and develop solutions to promote well-being in the workplace

  • Worked as a Team Lead in your Saxbys cafe
  • Completed the Saxbys Talent Acquisition Badge Microcredential

  • 8-10 hours/week, in addition to regular cafe responsibilities  
  • A servant leadership approach by providing the tools the team needs, completing tasks alongside the team, and giving productive feedback and direction
  • Delegate tasks to team members while keeping motivation, team morale, and energy levels high
  • Physical requirements:
    • Able to stand, walk, and smile for extended periods of time 
    • Able to stoop and kneel
    • Push, pull, lift or carry up to 35 lbs
    • Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps
