Position Description
We are actively seeking a highly accomplished and experienced Vice President of Software Engineering to spearhead the development and evolution of our critical data product. This pivotal role is central to extending and solidifying our core data moat—a strategic differentiator that underpins Sayari's market leadership. The successful candidate will assume comprehensive ownership of the entire data lifecycle, encompassing data acquisition, extraction, harmonization, and persistence/packaging.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of successfully scaling complex data platforms, demonstrating a deep understanding of architectural patterns and best practices. Furthermore, a strong background in harmonizing disparate datasets using cutting-edge machine learning (ML) and Generative AI (Gen AI) techniques is essential. This role offers significant latitude for innovation, encouraging the exploration and implementation of novel solutions to complex data challenges. The team supporting this vital function is primarily based in the United States.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead Data Engineering Strategy: Define and execute the technical vision for a scalable, high-performance data product utilizing Generative AI, advanced entity resolution, and unstructured data harmonization.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of engineers, fostering personal growth and technical excellence.
- Product Delivery: Drive end-to-end data product delivery—ensure on-time, high-quality releases that align with product goals and company OKRs, leveraging a scaled agile process.
- Architecture & Technology Oversight: Oversee architecture decisions, with a hands-on approach to evaluating tradeoffs across frameworks, pipelines, languages, etc.
- Collaboration: Partner with product, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable solutions. Partner with sales and customer success to identify future opportunities and to gather data product feedback (particularly quality).
- Innovation: Stay ahead of emerging technologies in GenAI, knowledge graphs, NLP, and machine learning. Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Experience
- Engineering Leadership: 8+ years in software engineering management, with at least 3 years at the VP or senior director level. This experience should be in a relevant domain such as enterprise software/data products, cybersecurity, core search/DB platforms, or third-party risk management.
- Predictable Delivery: Experience in various software development processes/practices for delivering predictability and with quality.
- Data/SaaS Expertise: Deep experience building and scaling cloud-native data products on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Data Engineering Acumen: Broad understanding of entity resolution, data normalization, information extraction, and harmonizing unstructured data sources.
- AI & NLP: Practical experience working with Generative AI models in a production environment.
- Programming Proficiency: Capable of code review in Scala, Python, Go, Java, or similar programming languages.

- Collaborative: Skilled in working laterally across the organization, actively listening to feedback from sales, customer success, and directly from customers.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
Work Location:
- This position is remote with about 15% travel. Preference to EDT/CDT/MDT timezone so there is maximum collaboration with East Coast, UK, EU, and Israel.
The target base salary for this position is $300,000-$335,000 plus bonus and equity. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including location, local market variances, candidate experience and expertise, internal peer equity, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
