Position Overview
We’re looking for a culturally attuned, insights-driven Senior Strategist with a deep passion for gaming, storytelling, and digital-first brand building. This person will play a critical role on a high-profile console gaming account, partnering closely with clients and internal teams to transform player insights and cultural trends into breakthrough strategies and standout creative work. Ideal candidates will bring a blend of critical thinking, console and mobile gaming fluency, and creative empathy to help shape ideas, guide teams, and inspire clients. This position reports to the Director of Strategy.
Location & Salary
This is a full-time, contract-to-hire position with an hourly rate of $75-$90 per hour based on experience. This role is based in Los Angeles, CA or Seattle, WA only. There will be occasions when in-office presence, at either our Echo Park HQ or a client’s office, is required based on the needs of specific accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of strategic frameworks and go-to-market strategies grounded in audience, cultural, and gaming insights. Craft compelling brand stories and creative briefs with clear objectives.
- Contribute to the design and execution of qualitative and quantitative research projects, with a focus on gaming communities, platforms, and trends.
- Serve as a strategic partner in brainstorms and reviews, helping shape and challenge creative work to ensure it's strategically sound and culturally relevant to gamers.
- Collaborate across teams and mentor junior strategists, helping grow strategic thinking across the department.
- Collaborate with Strategy leadership to establish and implement measurement plans to assess campaign effectiveness. Align objectives, KPIs, and metrics with clients and internal teams to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with trends across gaming, digital culture, and entertainment to fuel strategies and inspire ideas.
- Provide senior-level strategic counsel to clients, helping translate their business challenges into culturally resonant creative strategies tailored to gamers.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in strategy, quantitative and qualitative research, or a comparable field
- Proven experience working on gaming brands or campaigns with a strong understanding of gaming culture, player behavior, and platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proficient with research and social listening tools
- A positive, proactive attitude and a passion for internet culture, social storytelling, and the gaming space
- Demonstrated expertise in uncovering insights and knowledge of how to leverage them to achieve marketing objectives
- The ability to translate clients’ goals and objectives into actionable and measurable marketing recommendations
- Proven ability to build and maintain senior client relationships
- Experience mentoring or managing junior team members
- Entertainment or consumer brand experience is a plus
