Position Overview
Saylor seeks an innovative, sharp Creative Director, Campaign with experience in crafting best-in-market creative social campaigns for global brands. They are masters of content strategy, social media creative, stunt and content ideation, digital content producing, and overall creative development and leadership. The ideal candidate will be relentlessly creative in all things social media, digital audience experience and most importantly—culture. They are collaborative, strategic, and obsessed with creating the most competitive and impactful marketing campaigns. They are best in the business client whisperers and presenters. This contract role will manage a Copywriter and Art Director or Designer in shaping our creative efforts on pitches, accounts, and digital marketing campaigns for brand and entertainment clients. This person will be responsible for leading all things creative for an upcoming campaign, team members, and meeting with clients.

The Creative Director will be the strong visionary on the agency’s creative perspective within the competitive landscape. They will be the lead on concept initiatives, with collaboration with the Design and AV Editorial teams to maintain alignment and consistency throughout the production process. Externally, you'll be client facing and will help ensure their vision is executed. Internally, you'll collaborate across all teams at Saylor — partnering with Strategy, Accounts, and Social to elevate individual assets and entire campaigns. Throughout, you'll ensure all creative aligns with strategy and brand voice through copy, design, and execution.

You’re a social media wizard. You’re not afraid to share your ideas in a room — whether it’s with internal teams or clients — and you enthusiastically build up your teammate’s ideas through collaboration, making sure everyone is on the same page strategically. Flexibility and a positive attitude come naturally to you, and you create open and symbiotic environments conducive to generating stellar ideas. Curiosity, kindness, empathy, and playfulness are core tenets that you value and freely dispense. You thrive in a startup environment and are enthusiastic about building new processes and team structure in order to support a high level of creative output. You are organized, professional, and diligent about best-in-class creative delivery.

You feel confident and comfortable with the intricacies of social media marketing, with experience supporting or guiding high-profile creative projects from ideation to execution. You love a pitch deck and working with Social, Strategy, and Accounts to create a cohesive, unique campaign strategy. You feel secure talking with clients about their vision and needs, offering creative solutions that make them want to come back for more award-winning campaigns.

You may have been any of the following in your career: a well-rounded copywriter who always had kick-ass ideas, a social media strategist who deeply understood production, a community manager who found fresh ways to connect to fandoms,  a creative producer who was always one step ahead with big ideas or some combination of it all!

Location and Salary
This is a freelance role based in Los Angeles with an hourly rate of $65-$85 per hour depending on experience. There will be occasions when in-office presence, at either our Los Angeles HQ or a client’s office, is required based on the needs of specific accounts..


Overall Responsibilities:

  • Award-winning campaign ideation for a global brand to make a wave in culture.
  • Taking creative guidelines from and ensuring all creative is executed accordingly.
  • Attend client meetings and present creative ideas, frequently serving as a creative liaison between agency and clients.
  • Partner with Social, Strategy, Design, and Editorial teams on bringing high-quality creative to life through scripting and production kick off meetings as needed.
  • Provide strategic insight on content executions and relevant internet language to ensure the project is backed up by sound creative tactics.
  • Support and develop pitch decks in collaboration with the Social Team and Creative Producers, as well as other departments as needed.
  • Pitch creative concepts of varying styles and formats to clients.
  • Work with Saylor’s Account and Strategy teams to help maintain and execute the creative direction for brands/campaigns.
  • Clearly delegate production, ideation and other creative tasks to your team as needed.
  • Review all creative assets before they are sent to clients or released, providing last-minute adjustments and quality control as needed.
  • Oversee your creative team, giving guidance and support on their day-to-day tasks.

Execution Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Executive Creative Director, and other departmental leads, to understand campaign goals and support the creative team to execute against these strategies.
  • Facilitate the Creative team in the creation of content, concepts, pitch decks, mood boards, storyboards, scripts, and creative mockups that will serve as the creative foundation for across campaigns.
  • Foster strong communication with the Creative teams, offering steers, references, and one-on-one guidance to ensure that assets are being developed on schedule and within the project’s constraints.
  • Help refine creative standards to ensure all creative aspects are cohesive and aligned with the brand’s messaging and aesthetic.
  • Collaborate with the Strategy team to ensure that content is optimized for various platforms and engages the target audience effectively.
  • Continuously gather and curate references and research from various sources, using them to inspire creative solutions and innovative campaign ideas.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in an agency setting or in-house at a studio, with experience creating and leading award-winning marketing/branded content.
  • High-level understanding of 360 campaign creative within global brand marketing; social-forward aesthetic and storytelling thinking is a must. 
  • Incredible storytelling skills, with the ability to assist on pitches and sell the creative in the room to our clients. 
  • A knack for juggling multiple brand perspectives for social posts, pitch decks, and creative content intensive projects.
  • An eye for strong ideas and executions with the ability to communicate its effectiveness.
  • Finger on the pulse of creative culture across platforms. Able to pull references from all different sources that could help inspire creative avenues.
  • Ability to seamlessly bounce between projects of varying complexity.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet tight, high-volume deadlines.
  • Honed ability to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Leadership and team management skills, especially in a creative environment. 
  • Fiercely and uniquely creative with first-of-its-kind go to market ideation skills.
