Associate General Counsel, EMEA

Our Legal team works on complex legal and commercial issues at the leading edge of artificial intelligence, generative AI, and the application and use of these burgeoning technologies. You will join a creative and solutions-oriented team collaborating with internal teams at Scale and externally with our customers to build out the International Public Sector business. The ideal candidate will have significant experience negotiating complex international commercial and government agreements, but sufficient business and common sense to serve as a jack of all trades providing practical guidance to solve a broad scope of complex, time-sensitive problems in close partnership with a variety of cross-functional teams.
You will:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with global entities, working closely with our Sales organization to close revenue deals
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of other agreements, including partnership, vendor agreements, and DPAs
- Partner closely with our international sales teams to drive deals and the business forward across diverse geographies
- Serve as the lead point of legal contact for our International Public Sector team, providing practical legal counsel to sales, product, engineering, and marketing teams
- Partner closely and manage relationships with international and regional outside counsel, and government agencies
- Build strong relationships with Legal counterparts on Commercial and Product teams to ensure consistent risk calibration and legal guidance cross-company
- Design, implement, and iterate on policies and processes to manage legal and business risk on a global scale
Ideally you'd have:
- JD or equivalent and authorized to practice law in relevant jurisdictions
- At least 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, including law firm, in-house, or government experience with training in commercial agreements
- Worked at or closely with GCC-based enterprises
- Passion for partnering with Sales and closing revenue deals
- Experience with drafting and negotiating complex enterprise SaaS agreements and data processing agreements
- An ability to communicate clearly with business and technical audiences and effectively translate legal concepts for non-lawyers
- Roll-up-your-sleeves attitude to tackle projects large and small and a collaborative, low-ego approach to working across the organization
- Deep interest in artificial intelligence, generative AI, and machine learning technology and applications
Nice to haves:
- Proficiency in Arabic (spoken and written)
- Experience with legal issues related to AI/machine learning and/or the on-demand economy
- Product or privacy counseling experience
- Experience with international commerce and trade
