About the Role

Our Engineering Team is looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Container Infrastructure in either Indianapolis, IN or San Francisco, CA (remote role with the option to work from one of our offices). The Senior Software Engineer will play a key role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing systems crucial for our container-based solutions. This position is ideal for a skilled engineer with a deep understanding of container technologies and a passion for designing scalable and robust infrastructure. As part of our dynamic team, you will be at the forefront of integrating container technologies into our edge computing platform and driving innovation in our containerized application management solutions.

Great candidates will look like this:

  • Advanced proficiency in Linux and Python, with a solid background in systems engineering.
  • Expert knowledge in container technologies, especially Docker.
  • Kubernetes and other container orchestration tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and maintain scalable, resilient container infrastructure.
  • Proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving complex system-level problems.
  • Experience writing high-quality, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Prior success in working closely with Product Management and Development teams to understand and meet product requirements.
  • Excellent team collaboration skills, especially in remote work environments. 
  • Strong initiative and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Adaptability to evolving business and technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of our container infrastructure, focusing on integration with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop container runtime and orchestration services that align with business needs and technical requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of container solutions within our Linux operating system. 
  • Contributed to problem-solving and analytical troubleshooting in a containerized environment.
  • Ensure the highest level of performance, security, and reliability of our container infrastructure. 
  • Regularly communicate technical concepts and developments to team members and stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of developments in container technologies, distributed systems, and virtualization to drive continuous innovation.

Requirements

  • Lead the design and development of our container infrastructure, focusing on integration with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop container runtime and orchestration services that align with business needs and technical requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of container solutions within our Linux operating system.

Other useful skills/experience

  • Previous experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Flux, ArgoCD).
  • Expertise in Kubernetes and related container-orchestration technologies. 
  • Knowledge and experience in virtualization and distributed systems. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts effectively.
