About the Role

Scale Computing is looking for a hands-on, self-motivated, entrepreneurial software engineer with system development experience on Linux. The ideal candidate enjoys working on challenging software projects and prides themselves on timely, quality results. 

The ideal candidate will get to work with a collaborative, extremely talented, and focused engineering team who pride themselves on delivering quality products to our customers on a regular basis. The team is very inclusive and works hard to bring new members up to speed quickly. 

You and your team will be designing and building the technology to enable Scale to integrate our edge computing infrastructure seamlessly into the top container management solutions. Scale customers currently enjoy the simplicity and reliability of using our edge computing solution to easily deliver virtual machines where they are needed. Seamlessly integrating Scale’s monitoring and management system into our customers’ existing container management infrastructure is the next big challenge at Scale. Simplicity and ease of use are in our DNA, and bringing those qualities to the world of container management is a real challenge.   • Distributed block storage systems
  • Virtualization & top container management
  • Large-scale state machines
  • Linux system management
  • Networking

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
• 2+ years of industry experience
• Proficient with C++
• System design skills with an understanding of testability and maintainability
• Understanding of the Linux operating system, networking, and toolset 
• Experience using git
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Other useful skills/experience

• Understanding of Qemu/KVM Internals
• Experience with clustered and/or distributed systems
• Experience with Javascript and Node.js
• Open Source project contribution
• Experience with Ansible and/or Terraform
