The Role 

We are excited to offer an internship opportunity for aspiring Cloud & Platform Engineers. The platform engineering team is responsible for building-out, supporting, and evolving the cloud platforms across the Schonfeld firm in support of our Tech and Portfolio Manager teams. 

What You’ll Do   

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll work on helping to build-out and support core systems & platforms across the firm. In supporting and expanding these platforms, you will be responsible for assisting in platform upgrades in conjunction with supporting teams. You will collaborate with Tech Teams to handle technical requests regarding our supported platforms. In this process, you will garner knowledge in Platforms such as AWS Cloud, Kubernetes/EKS, Upbound/Crossplane, etc. Your responsibilities may include some of the following: 

  • Help write and maintain Terraform and/or CrossPlane Claims for AWS infrastructure changes 
  • Contribute to internal tooling and automation scripts (Python, Bash) 
  • Assist with day-to-day operations across Kubernetes/EKS clusters and GitOps deployments (ArgoCD) 
  • Help investigate infrastructure issues — networking, DNS, connectivity, and service health — across AWS accounts 

 

What You’ll Bring 

What you need: 

  • Familiarity with Linux command-line environments 
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP) 
  • Some exposure to a scripting language (Python, Bash, or similar) 
  • Curiosity and willingness to dig into unfamiliar systems and ask questions 

We’d love if you had: 

  • Hands-on AWS Cloud and Networking Experience (Coursework, prior internships, or personal projects) 
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD concepts 
  • Exposure to Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools 
  • Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, Grafana)

The annual base pay for this role is expected to be between $100,000 and $110,000 which will be prorated based on internship start and end date. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications and experience and level of education.
