Our Elementary School Kindergarten - 1st Grade Learning Specialist:
Our Elementary School, admiringly named “Dos Amigos”, at School in the Square is a Dual Language PreK-5th grade program dedicated to providing each student with the tools and support to become lifelong learners. Dos Amigos provides a creative, bilingual immersion program alongside a focus on SEL.
We are looking for a dedicated, mission-aligned learning specialist who has a passion for bilingual immersion. Reporting to our Principal and in collaboration with a diverse and committed School Leadership Team (SLT), you will support our efforts to ensure high academic standards while also focusing on the social-emotional needs of all students. The Kindergarten - 1st Grade Learning Specialist will work as a part of a team of other learning specialists in the student support services department led by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. The learning specialists play a unique role as a collaborator with teachers on various teams, as a family liaison, and as a small group and individual instructor of students with varying learning needs with a primary responsibility of supporting Kindergarten - 1st Grade levels in literacy and/or math.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s and Masters Degree Required, SWD preferred
- NYS Special Education teaching certification is required
- Multi-lingual, bilingual (spanish) preferred
- Certification in Orton-Gillingham or a similar reading approach
- Knowledge of Fundations, Wilson, Heggerty, Science of Reading, Singapore Math, CPA Approach to teaching mathematics, as well as other remedial math programs
- Experience with scheduling
- Flexible thinker and problem solver
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A high level of integrity and a strong work ethic
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Impeccable organizational and time management skills
- Strong sense of urgency
- Keen eye for detail

Using two pay scale ranges based on your New York State Certifications, years of experience and education level certified learning specialists salary ranges from $66,000 - $122,764 and uncertified learning specialists salary ranges from $63,000 - $119,764.
