Field Application Engineer

The Field Application Engineer role focuses on building and nurturing a vibrant neuroengineering developer community. Responsibilities include actively supporting customers, gathering and sharing their feedback, and collaborating with engineering and marketing teams to drive customer acquisition. This individual will travel to meet with customers, onboard new users and collaborate with established ones. In this way, they will work similar to a developer evangelist role in building strong, long-term relationships in research and startup communities in the brain-computer interface industry.
Role responsibilities:
- Product Advocacy & Feedback:
- Advocate for customer needs and provide valuable input on the product roadmap and development.
- Gather and share customer feedback with the product and engineering teams.
- Community Building & Engagement:
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to support lead generation and customer acquisition efforts.
- Contribute to the development of marketing materials and campaigns.
- Participate in industry events and conferences to showcase company products and build brand awareness.
- Customer Onboarding & Success:
- Develop and deliver engaging onboarding experiences for new customers of neuro research products.
- Proactively identify customer challenges and roadblocks and work with the internal team to adjust processes and documentation accordingly.
- Provide technical guidance and support to customers throughout their product lifecycle.
- Build strong relationships with key customer contacts and foster long-term partnerships.
Key qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, computer science, or electrical engineering
- Experience working in a research-focused startup or academic lab.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to travel both locally and internationally.
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with neural recording experiments and equipment.
- Experience with GitHub and/or Hubspot.
- 3+ years experience in relevant fields (e.g., neuroscience, computer science, electrical engineering).
Salary/Pay Range:
For individuals hired to work in California, Science is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on geo-located salary bands. The base salary range for this full-time position is $85,000 – $172,000 + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
