Master Service Technician

Reports to: Service Manager 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt  

Location: Bozeman, UT

Pay: $50 +/hour Base Pay DOE, competitive compensation based upon experience.

The Master Service Technician is responsible for performing detailed startup and service on millions of dollars of HVAC equipment being installed into the market on a yearly basis. Equipment such as Air Handlers, Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, Refrigerant Split Systems, VRF, VFD’s, Heat Pumps, Fans, Cooling Towers, Packaged Rooftop Units, DOAS, UV, Controls and more. You will work hand in hand with our Service Manager, fellow lead technicians, the manufacturer, and our local product experts. As our face to the customer in the field, you will often be the last person on the project. In this role, you are responsible for making sure the equipment is operating correctly and that we are handing over a quality final product to the customer, with the intent to keep and develop long-term customer relationships. This position will require travel throughout the states of Montana and Wyoming. An outfitted company service truck will be provided.

It is the expectation that a Master Technician will work to help educate and teach our younger technicians on skills and technical problem solving that you have developed over the last 15 + years.  You will work with our technicians as a mentor and help them resolve issues as they are working in the field.

Factory training will be provided, with the expectation you will be the local certified technician for the manufacturers represented by S Conley Sales. Top Responsibilities:

  • Travel the states of Montana and Wyoming to perform detailed startups and service on equipment represented by S Conley Sales, Inc. Coordinate with Support Manager, and customer to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by extensively examining building layouts, equipment IOM’s, forecasting issues, gathering materials, and synchronizing on-site work.
  • Business Acumen including electronically filing startup paperwork, thorough job summary documentation, utilization of electronic scheduling and job tracking software, and QuickBooks timecard and invoice generation.
  • Representation of the company by serving as a direct customer contact, responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing systems at customer's location in a timely and professional manner. Master Service Technician is the technical go to person for the customer in your service area.
  • Independently manage daily business needs by identifying parts to order for repairs and determining the required urgency of the request. Utilizing existing company resources, including an on-staff parts and warehouse manager, to return equipment to service in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Factory Training and Certification, as identified by management. This list includes both current and future manufacturers represented by S Conley Sales, Inc. Equipment will include, but is not limited to: Air Handlers, Chillers, Boilers, Pumps, Refrigerant Split Systems, VRF, VFD’s, Heat Pumps, Fans, Cooling Towers, Packaged Rooftop Units, DOAS, UV, Controls.

Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to solve difficult problems and manage a variety of variables in situations and with problems where only limited information or standardization exists
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be a self-starter, independent, and have strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines at any given time
  • Must obtain a Universal CFC License
  • Boiler operator’s license preferred but not required

Education / Experience

  • 15+ years in HVAC service, with an aptitude to understand mechanical HVAC systems and controls.
  • Industry specific experience in Hospital and/or Resort work
  • Strong Communication and Team Leadership skills a must.
  • Strong Technical skills
  • Excellent customer service skills a must: Troubleshooting, teamworking, good communication skills, and Facility relationship building.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Drug screening and background check.
  • Strong self-directed work ethic and motivation to learn the newest technologies in the industry.

Compensation:

  • $50 +/hour Base Pay DOE, competitive compensation based upon experience.
  • We provide each technician with a service vehicle, required specialty tools, uniform, gas card, cell phone, and paid training.
  • Company-paid medical, vision, dental, Paid Holidays, PTO, Starts 30 days after hire.
