Scopely is looking for a Senior Engineer to serve on and elevate our new casual game, Monopoly GO!  team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis.

Monopoly GO! is our new casual game and a key franchise that has just become Scopely’s largest game, enjoyed by millions of players. The team is based in Europe and the US, and works every day to create captivating new experiences for our players.

 

What You Will Do

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in setting the bar for how we design, build, and operate systems for our mobile game. Your work will focus on C# services, data pipelines, APIs, and system infrastructure, delivering high-quality, reliable, and scalable solutions that support both the game and our internal teams.

  • Design, develop, and maintain services and systems to support live game operations and development workflows.

  • Build and optimize APIs, data pipelines, and integration layers that connect game features, tools, and live operations.

  • Collaborate with game designers, product managers, and engineers across disciplines to understand requirements and deliver robust backend solutions.

  • Participate in architectural discussions and code reviews, providing thoughtful feedback and driving engineering best practices.

  • Evolve standards for C# development, testing, and deployment.

  • Implement observability, logging, and monitoring for backend services to ensure reliability and performance.

  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to less senior team members, helping them grow their skills and knowledge.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong background in C# development, with experience in coding, system design, APIs, and services.

  • Solid knowledge of distributed systems, data modeling, and performance optimization.

  • Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and messaging/queue systems.

  • Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS).

  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to quickly understand complex systems.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work well with diverse teams.

  • A passion for engineering best practices and a dedication to producing high-quality, maintainable code, product testing.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and programming paradigms.

  • Understanding of security best practices in backend systems.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with observability stacks (e.g. Datadog).

  • Familiarity with live game development and operations (rollback systems, safety nets, iterative release).

  • Knowledge of microservices architectures and event-driven systems.

Experience building internal tooling and automation pipelines.
