Scientist II, In-Vivo Pharmacology (Must have oncology experience)
Scorpion is a clinical-stage, precision oncology company developing transformational targeted therapies for patients with cancer. We have built proprietary and fully-integrated discovery capabilities leveraging the most advanced technologies across cancer biology, medicinal chemistry and data sciences. Our current pipeline, led by our mutant-selective PI3Ka program STX-478, consists of three internally discovered clinical product candidates in addition to multiple discovery-stage programs. Our focus is on solving current gaps in therapeutic options for patients with cancer by discovering and developing exquisitely-selective product candidates against well-validated, previously undruggable argets to improve patient outcomes.
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist II with a demonstrated track record of successes to join our dynamic oncology drug discovery team. This candidate will serve a critical role in conducting mouse tumor xenograft studies in support of target validation and small molecule drug discovery from early discovery to IND stage for multiple projects simultaneously. This individual will also work seamlessly with biology, chemistry and DMPK to design experiments and conduct hands-on work in the vivarium and lab. This position is ideal for a talented, results driven individual who will thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, start-up environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and coordinate in vivo experiments in-house and externally
- Leverage organizational and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues in biology and medicinal chemistry
- Represent pharmacology on multiple project core teams
- Analyze and present data to project teams and department meetings
- Maintain high-quality, detailed experimental records within the ELN
- Design and execute PK/PD/efficacy studies
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD. in pharmacology, biology or a related field
- 1+ years of industry experience in the oncology space required
- Experienced with cell culture and molecular biology techniques such as western blotting, qPCR and other plate-based assays and imaging techniques
- Skilled in animal handling, compound formulation, dosing (PO/IV/SC/IP), basic surgery and necropsy techniques
- Outstanding organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest quality of experimental execution/quality
- Desire to contribute to teams working on challenging technical and scientific problems
- A strong record of achievement, including publications
