People Operations
About Scotch
Scotch’s mission is to modernize one of the oldest industries on earth: the $1.6T beverage alcohol market. We’re starting by building the next-generation operating system for BevAlc retailers (POS, payments, Back Office, E-commerce). We build fast, intuitive software that helps operators run their business with less friction — and we're doing it at a moment when AI is fundamentally changing what a great finance function looks like. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape what finance becomes at a high-growth technology company.
About the Role
We are looking for a People Team Generalist who is equal parts operator and culture-builder. This is a high-ownership, high-variety role at the center of our business — you will touch nearly every team and every employee experience we create.
We are not looking for someone who wants to clock in and clock out. We want a hungry business athlete — someone who thrives in ambiguity, takes pride in the details, and genuinely loves helping the people around them do their best work.
This role is based out of our Denver headquarters. If you are energized by variety, comfortable juggling a full plate, and excited to build rather than maintain, read on.
What You'll Do:
Recruiting
- Own end-to-end recruiting for roles across the company — sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, and closing candidates
- Build and maintain a strong candidate pipeline through proactive outreach, job boards, and employee referrals
- Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, craft job descriptions, and move quickly without sacrificing quality
- Drive an exceptional candidate experience from first touch through offer
HR Workflows & Compliance
- Administer payroll processing in coordination with our payroll provider, ensuring accuracy and timeliness every cycle
- Manage state employment filings, registrations, and compliance requirements as we operate and hire across multiple states
- Maintain and update employee records, HR systems, and documentation with a high degree of accuracy
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding workflows, ensuring every employee transition is seamless
- Support benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee inquiries
Office Administration
- Keep our Denver office running smoothly — supplies, vendors, facilities, and day-to-day logistics
- Manage relationships with office vendors and service providers
- Serve as a go-to resource for the team on operational needs, requests, and problem-solving
- Support executive scheduling and coordination as needed
Company Culture & Events
- Plan and execute company-wide gatherings, team offsites, all-hands events, and celebrations
- Bring creative energy and strong project management to every event — from the big annual kickoff to the spontaneous team lunch
- Help build and reinforce our culture through thoughtful, well-executed programming
What We're Looking For:
- 3–7 years of experience in HR, People Operations, recruiting, or a closely related operational role
- Proven ability to manage a broad, ever-changing workload with professionalism and good judgment
- Experience with payroll administration and multi-state HR compliance (or a demonstrated ability to learn quickly)
- Recruiting experience end-to-end, with a track record of filling roles efficiently and well
- Exceptionally organized — you keep the details from slipping even when things get busy
- A collaborative team player who lifts others up and communicates proactively
- High energy, low ego — you are just as comfortable ordering lunch for the team as you are navigating a complex compliance question
- Familiarity with HRIS, ATS, or payroll systems (e.g., Rippling, Gusto, Greenhouse, Lever, or similar)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a high-growth startup or fast-paced company environment
- Event planning experience, including multi-day offsites or company-wide events
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent)
- Familiarity with employment law across multiple U.S. states
Who We Are:
We are a team that moves fast, cares deeply about what we build, and treats each other well. We believe that a great People function is one of the most important investments a growing company can make — and this role sits at the heart of it. You will have real ownership, direct impact, and a seat at the table from day one.
How to Apply:
Submit your application here, and send a note to jake@scotchpos.com with the subject line "People Operations." Tell us about a recent People project that you are proud of — and, separately, tell us about a workflow you have managed to automate in your worklife or personal life using AI. We read every application.
