Field Service Representative
The future of defense will be decided by those who field intelligent machines at scale. At Scout AI, we’re developing Fury, the first robotic foundation model for defense, to give U.S. forces overwhelming, adaptable, and autonomous power across every domain. Fury enables human operators to command fleets of robots through natural language, and empowers those machines to sense, decide, and act together as one. This mission will ask everything of us: urgency, precision, and relentless work.
The Role
We’re hiring a Field Service Representative to support the deployment, sustainment, and operational readiness of Scout’s autonomous systems in the field. This role is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting deployed systems, ensuring fleet availability, and serving as Scout’s technical representative alongside customers during operations, demonstrations, and fielding events.
You will act as the front-line expert for Scout’s platforms, owning system performance in real-world environments and ensuring issues are diagnosed and resolved quickly. This role requires deep hands-on technical ability across hardware and software, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate independently in dynamic and often austere environments.
You will deploy with customer teams and internal operations personnel, providing on-site support, maintenance, and technical guidance. Your work directly ensures mission readiness, system reliability, and successful customer adoption.
Responsibilities
- Maintain operational readiness of deployed systems through inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and system-level issues in real-world environments; execute timely and effective repairs
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact in the field, working directly with customers to resolve issues and ensure system performance
- Support system installation, configuration, integration, and fielding at customer locations
- Track, document, and manage maintenance actions, service logs, and system status across the deployed fleet
- Coordinate with engineering and product teams to escalate issues, provide detailed feedback, and support root cause analysis
- Support customer demonstrations, evaluations, and operational deployments, ensuring systems are mission-ready and professionally presented
- Manage spare parts, tools, and field support equipment to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity
- Train and advise operators on system use, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures
- Assist in developing maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and field support processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related field) or equivalent hands-on experience
- 3+ years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, or supporting complex electromechanical, robotic, or autonomous systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software systems
- Experience diagnosing issues in the field and independently driving resolution under time pressure
- Ability to interface directly with customers and represent the company in operational environments
- Experience documenting maintenance actions, system issues, and service activities in a structured manner
- Comfortable working in field environments with frequent travel and extended deployments (50-75%+)
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical issues into clear, actionable insights
