What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Develop and own best practice process related vehicle safety strategy
- Develop and document lessons learned to drive continuous improvement
- Conduct competitive benchmarking for performance, design, content and maintain centralized database.
- Develop and drive risk mitigation strategies utilizing DFEMA principles
- Lead Safety Strategy Meeting
- Set and Publish agenda and minutes
- coordinate effective attendance
- Facilitate cross functional communication (incoming and outgoing)
- Document and communicate relevant program decisions/changes to the greater team
- Manage open items list and drive items to closure
- Maintain and organize safety team SharePoint site
- Track and document status to vehicle level safety targets
- Align safety targets to program targets
- Maintain Safety Health Rollup Chart and communicate to management
- Collect and cascade relevant program information to collective vehicle safety team
- Target weight sheets, Target Ride heights, Program content per Trim level
- Collaborate with Prototype Build Team
- Align and agree on prototype build/delivery schedule
- Align on prototype content and counts
- Drive efficient prototype use
- Collaborate with external test facilities
- Align and agree on timing/support required
- Manage unexpected test plan changes
- Coordinate reaction plans in case of undesirable test results
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or a relevant field.
- 5 to 10+ years of experience in developing and integrating Vehicle safety systems, experience in body structures, High Voltage and mechanical areas and relevant automotive assignments, covering all phases of product development (design, test, and launch).
- Ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety strategies, regulations, and standards.
- Robust technical skills and expertise in Vehicle Safety, employing a 1st Principles approach to problem-solving.
- Extensive knowledge around test plan development and management to support efficient signoff.
- Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $140,000-$155,000
Internal leveling code: IC8
