What you’ll do

As Manager, Tax Compliance and Reporting, you will have hands-on responsibility for federal and state tax compliance and income tax reporting, collaborating with Finance and Operations team members, professional service providers, and implementing automated processes. This role will be pivotal in the growth of a Tax Compliance and Reporting team, enabling regulatory adherence and operational efficiency.

  • Manage tax compliance priorities and play a lead role in the growth and development of Scout’s tax compliance and reporting function.
  • Review or perform North America corporate tax direct and indirect tax compliance requirements across tax types (federal, state, and local).
  • Collaborate with professional service providers on tax compliance matters.
  • Manage responses to tax jurisdictions’ inquiries and audits.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and reporting processes.
  • Support the implementation of tax software, engaging with internal teams, software vendors, and tax service providers, as needed.
  • Navigate ERP systems (including SAP Cloud) with ability to navigate, extract and analyze financial data.
  • Build and maintain internal and external working relationships; Embody a client-service mind-set.
  • Provide tax-technical guidance and support to the business, as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative culture built on inclusion, respect, and teamwork.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events occasionally. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Remote applicants located in the Southeast region of the United States may be considered. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

What you’ll bring

  • A degree in accounting with a master’s in taxation and CPA qualification desired
  • 7+ years proven tax generalist experience with public accounting firms or corporate tax for medium-large companies. Experience must include income tax accounting. Knowledge of the research tax credit is a desired.
  • Excellent project management, quantitative/analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated influencing, communication, and strategic relationship-building abilities.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ERP platforms, tax technology solutions, including ONESOURCE products, and data analytics solutions.
  • A track record of implementing technology and process automation.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing teams.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
