What you’ll do

As a Specialist, Pre-series Steering at Scout Motors, you play a crucial role in the planning and execution of pre-series vehicle production. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Production Planning: Develop and manage the pre-series volume production plan, ensuring alignment with ordering departments such as engineering, quality, training, and sales.
- Communication and Coordination: Collaborate with various internal departments to align production schedules and inform relevant parties about building schedules. Ensure effective communication channels with purchasing and logistics to guarantee the availability of all necessary parts.
- Constraint identification: Proactively identify potential bottlenecks in pre-series vehicle production and define corrective measures to address production challenges.
- Purpose-Driven Planning: Align with ordering departments to determine when pre-series vehicles need to be produced based on their specific purposes, such as process validation, testing, or training.
- Continuous Optimization: Utilize insights from each pre-series batch to optimize future production planning. Identify and resolve process issues to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of production processes.
- Process Creation and Implementation: Take the lead in creating and implementing pre-series processes. Given our startup nature, this involves establishing efficient and effective processes from scratch.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation related to pre-series steering, including specifications, test reports, and improvement recommendations.
- Cost Tracking: Track and monitor costs associated with pre-series steering, providing regular updates and insights to contribute to cost-effective planning.
- Supplier Collaboration: Collaborate with steering system suppliers to ensure seamless integration of components into the pre-series production process.
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

We're looking for a candidate with:
- Educational Background: A Bachelors or Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. Specialization in Production Management or Planning is preferred.
- Experience: Experience in production program planning, particularly in the automotive industry. Understanding the fundamentals of car production processes is essential.
- Technical Understanding: Strong technical understanding of production processes, particularly in relation to steering systems. Knowledge of how these processes impact the functionality and quality of vehicles is crucial.
- Analytical Skills: Proficient in analyzing production data, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions to optimize pre-series production planning.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Adept at identifying challenges and implementing effective solutions to ensure seamless pre-series vehicle production.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration with internal departments, suppliers, and other stakeholders, ensuring a smooth flow of information.
- Process Optimization: Previous experience in optimizing production processes, driving efficiency, and implementing best practices.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $95,000-$120,000
Internal leveling code: IC9
